Good for Angelina but other than that I can't agree with this.

It makes sense, although I'd replace one of Eve/Alicia with Melina, and at a push Sarita. Madison >>>>>> McCool (and Layla), but I suppose McCool is ahead from a kayfabe perspective. And Angelina is completely and utterly boring as a fan favourite (well, she's boring in general, but still), but I guess she merits her place as well.

Nice to see one of the best talking and most well balanced chicks in the biz in Angelina get a top 5 spot. I wouldn't be surprised if Velvet's losing a lot lately cost her. Then again, Diva Dirt doesn't care for her much anyway. Given the way Diva Dirt marks for Melina, it's somewhat surprising they wouldn't cobble her onto a list even if she didn't belong. I wouldn't be surprised to see Winter on lists like this next year. I wonder if the E will allow Kong to flourish enough to be a factor next year? I guess this is for the WWE and TNA only. Otherwise, Mercedes Martinez should be here.

I think Velvet's booking in general last year hurt her. Even if she did well I don't think Diva Dirt would not have included her because like you said they don't care much for Velvet there.
I do see that a lot of their favorites made the list. I think if they could Melina have been included on this list.
I also agree about Mercedes Martinez. She has had a great year on the indys defending the WSU title. She even defended the title against and defeated Mickie cleanly at a ICW show last year.

Perhaps it also partly down to the fact that Velvet is a terrible wrestler. Just a thought.
Melina had far more of a right than Velvet Sky. She's the most popular female on the roster, she had a title run and she's actually had some solid matches, injuries aside. Velvet has plodded along all year, relying on far more talented women to carry her to what are still mediocre-at-best matches. The current victim is Sarita, who thankfully is getting the better of the feud.
It is indeed WWE/TNA specific.
I won't get into Angelina Love, i.e. TNA's failing attempt to create their own Trish Stratus.

Speaking of failed attempts at being Trish Stratus, did anyone else catch Melina's take on the Matrix move during that six person tag recently? Thank God Santino's singing eventually distracted everyone from further horrors.

I've seen Trish fall over doing that same move. Melina has perfected it, and it is now pretty much her move. Trish willingly passed the torch to her, and Melina soared.

You can blame Maryse and Alicia for that. Incidentally, two people who can also thank Melina for carrying them to the best matches of their careers.
And I think Melina has messed up the matrix twice. I wouldn't even call them botches in comparison to Trish's complete fail. I like Trish and everything, but she wishes she had Melina's flexibility.

Kind of disagrees with your notion that being a not so good wrestler keeps one off the list. And I think Melina has messed up the matrix twice. That doesn't change the fact that the Maryse/Melina action was sloppy and slow as hell. Melina practically had to run at a snail's pace when she was chasing Maryse around the ring because Maryse was taking so long. Either way, the match sucked, but I'm sure they've gotten over it.
I already said that I'd replace Alicia with Melina or Sarita, didn't I?
I'm not worried about her at all. I've seen her interviews and know what she's up to. Melina actually trained with her at her yoga studio, which is where Trish taught her the MaTrish. I can't say I agree with the last statement though, not when Melina was holding her own against Trish as far back as 2005.

I can't say I agree with the last statement though, not when Melina was holding her own against Trish as far back as 2005. Holding her own against her kayfabe has nothing to do with anything here. Trish was a better all around talent than Melina has yet demonstrated to be. |

I think that both women have their strengths and weaknesses: Melina's flexibility and athleticism means that she's capable of doing more, but also means that it's easier for her to mess up. Trish is arguably more solid at what she does, but has less range.
Whatever the case, I'm sure your opinion would be different were Melina a bleach blonde Caucasian woman. Just saying.

It would be different if Melina actually had the talent profile to match or exceed Trish's. So far though, she doesn't. |
