I wanted someone younger to start off a new franchise. Preferably an up and coming or not very well known actor who could use this as a breakout role, much like Henry Cavill and Christian Bale. Then when they announced it would be an older veteran Batman, I just wanted Bale back, even tho I was never really of fan of his Batman, just for the sake of continuity. Cause I felt that Man of Steel fit perfectly after The Dark Knight Rises, and would've helped bring that supernatural element back to the franchise that Christopher Nolan sucked completely out of it with The Dark Knight.
I sure as hell, didn't want someone who not only has already played a superhero a decade ago, but did so terribly. And even tho people claim he is one of the greatest actors of our time, he plays himself in every single movie. Plus, it's Ben Affleck... That would be like them announcing Miley Cyrus as Buffy, Russel Brand as James Bond or Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs. He's at that level of fame (and infamy tbh) where when he introduces himself as Bruce Wayne, I'm not gonna see Bruce Wayne, I'm gonna see Ben Affleck. Clooney wasn't even at his level of fame yet when Batman & Robin came out, but when you watch it, you're watching George Clooney, play George Clooney, in nipple clad rubber. I just feel like we're about to relive that, but without the fun corniness and over the top side characters.
Having said all that, there is a strong chance I could be 100% wrong on this and he could turn out to be the best Batman ever. I read when Michael Keaton was announced, people were pissed beyond belief, then when the trailer hit theaters it got a standing ovation. And he's still my favorite one. Affleck has a harder job here tho. Not only does he have huge shoes to fill (not Bale's, Batman's) but he has his own 20 year past of bad movies and notoriety that he needs to bury to make people believe he's actually Batman. He has the look, a lot more than Bale did with his non-chin, but it just makes me nervous. Cause now that he's Batman, that's it, he's Batman. For the rest of this decade at least.
This is one of my biggest fandom's I'm a part of, so I'm praying he does a good job, and I'll completely get behind him if he does. Call that bandwagoning or w/e if you want, but to me, this is him auditioning to be one of the most iconic figures in my life, and I need to see it to approve it. At the moment, this is just a hard pill to swallow. But I'm open minded after sleeping on it.

This could've worked if Matt Damon was Superman.

If this doesn't at least end with Supergirl crashing into Gotham Harbor this movie will be paid the ultimate dust.

Bryan Cranston on Lex Luthor Superman vs Batman rumours: 'News to me'
Bryan Cranston has addressed the online rumours claiming that he'll play Lex Luthor in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel.
The Breaking Bad star's name has frequently been linked to the superhero blockbuster, rumoured to be titled Superman vs Batman, which will put Henry Cavill's Man of Steel and Ben Affleck's Batman on screen together.
Cranston denied that he had signed up to play Superman's nemesis in six movies in an interview with Boston.com to promote his play All the Way.
"This is all news to me," he said. "I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I'm known to be bald. 'What bald guy can we get?'
"The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him."
The 57-year-old also laughed off the notion of calling previous Lex Luthor Gene Hackman to ask for advice.
"I can just see how that phone call would go," he said. "'Gene? Hi, this is Bryan Cranston.' 'Who? Bryan Cranston? What do you want? How did you get this number?'"
Cranston can next be seen on the big screen in Cold Comes the Night and Warner Bros' Godzilla remake. He previously worked with new Batman star Affleck on Argo.
The Man of Steel sequel, directed by Zack Snyder and written by David S Goyer, will open in cinemas on July 17, 2015.
Welp.

Justin Bieber has set the internet ablaze with his latest Instagram picture (SEE BELOW). The image features Bieber holding a script to the Man of Steel sequel.
The script in the image is titled Batman vs. Superman, with Bieber's name printed on the front. The image was captioned with "#robin ??" inflaming rumors that Bieber could be up for the role of Robin in the film. This could also just be a joke on Bieber's part.
The script's cover page also says, "Based on Batman: The Dark Night Falls by Frank Miller and Klaus Jansen." This is a reference to the fourth chapter of The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel by Frank Miller. The Comic-Con presentation that announced the film last summer referenced the graphic novel as well, so this could mean that the story will have a significant influence on the film.
The film is due out July 17, 2015. Oh man, Bieber as Robin and Affleck as Batman could lead to the funniest movie ever.
