Emma Stone to be Cast as Mary Jane Watson
SWEET!!!
I love Emma Stone.
Thank god they got a real red head to play her, and a hot one at that. I'm glad their holding off their romance until later sequels also. I'm really starting to like this Spider-Man reboot.
- Back in high school
- Hot Mary Jane
- Gwen Stacy love interest (I'm sure you guys liked the first casting rumor)
- NO Tobey MaGuire
- NO Kirstin Dunst (Even though she was a GREAT Mary Jane in Spider-Man 1)
I'm really starting to love this new reboot. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies were great, and they'll always have a place in my DVD (soon to be Blu-Ray come payday) collection, but Spider-Man needed this badly. I can't wait until 2012. (Well, Summer at least. Not really looking forward to Christmas... if there is one...)
This is Spider-Man by the way. In case any of you haven't seen him yet:
Andrew Garfield. I didn't like the choice at first, was kinda hoping Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) would win the role, But now after seeing him in interviews promoting the Social Network, I'm all for him being Spider-Man.
Face it, Tiger. You just hit the jackpot.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has selected their Zombieland and Easy A star Emma Stone to portray Peter Parker's (future) love interest Mary Jane Watson in their next Spider-Man film. The site claims the studio will "imminently offer" Stone the role, one of two female leads in the film.
The second female lead is Gwen Stacy, with Dianna Agron (Glee), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Georgina Haig (Wasted on the Young) and Dominique McElligott (Moon) said to be the finalists for that role.
The site says Gwen is a "plum part for the first installment of the 3D Marc Webb-directed reboot of Spider-Man, because she is the first love interest of the high school-aged Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield. Mary Jane -- played by Kirsten Dunst in the Sam Raimi-directed trilogy -- becomes more pivotal in the later installments of the Spidey saga."
Filming begins later this year for a July 3, 2012 release.
