Suicide Squad is getting crappy reviews. This is going to be Batman vs. Superman all over again.

I just got back from seeing this. It was a really fun movie. Definitely different from BvS. I'd compare it to X-Men: Apocalypse, it had its problems, but it was still a solid movie with a bunch of great moments. Also I think it did such a great job at world building, which was something that BvS didn't have enough of. Or maybe it was cool to see something beyond Gotham and whatever the city Superman protects is called. Also it gave Batfleck a bit more credibility (not that he needed any) by diving into his past catching villains. I went in this movie ready to hate on Will Smith. But his take on Deadshot was awesome. Honestly Deadshot and Harley Quinn were easily the stars of the movie. Captain Boomerang was hilarious too. But Harley Quinn pulled a Jean Grey moment, I was not expecting them to have her be the world's savior. Margot Robbie did an excellent job, and she was gorgeous during her Doctor scenes.
I did not like Jared Leto before seeing this movie, so I went in with the intention of hating him in this. His Joker was pretty solid. I've never particularly cared for the Harley/Joker relationship dynamic, but I liked how they handled it here. It should be noted post Suicide Squad I read an article about how insufferable Jared Leto was on set, so here we are back to square one.
I think one of the cons of it was there was a lot of rushed development, like when Deadshot has to choose between killing Harley or walking out a free man and getting to be with his daughter. That part made no sense, but I was easily able to brush it under the rug. Diablo calling the Suicide Squad his second family was a little extra too, but that's kind of what I mean about the rushed development, like the relationship they had with each other was instantaneous and I don't think it was necessary to try and force it. It didn't take away from the movie though. I'm sad I didn't care as much for Katana as I thought I would, but still kudos to DC for going with her. Already more diverse than Marvel.
My biggest problem with the movie was also one of my favorite parts of it: Enchantress is such a fucking cool villain. They made her so creepy, like straight up out of the Ring or the Grudge. That was perfect. When they made her into an ethereal goddess, I thought that was pretty cool too. But I really wish they had picked almost anyone else to play her instead of Cara Delevingne. Also I couldn't stand Rick Flagg and I'm still not sure if we were supposed to like him or not.
Honestly it's a solid movie. And the way DC has handle their women so far, has been on point (not including the Arrowverse). I'm hoping this movie is a success because I would love to see a few more of these rather than another Avengers movie.

I think one of the cons of it was there was a lot of rushed development, like when Deadshot has to choose between killing Harley or walking out a free man and getting to be with his daughter. That part made no sense, but I was easily able to brush it under the rug. Deadshot doesn't kill women or children, it's part of his code. Even a hitman needs morals. Diablo calling the Suicide Squad his second family was a little extra too, but that's kind of what I mean about the rushed development, like the relationship they had with each other was instantaneous and I don't think it was necessary to try and force it. Yeah, that bit was really weird. I believe he does say that in the comics, but not until he's known them for months, it was very forced for him to say that during their very first mission together. I'm sad I didn't care as much for Katana as I thought I would, but still kudos to DC for going with her. I agree, she stuck out like a sore thumb, like she was just there for the sake of being there. I wish they had just saved her for Birds of Prey. I really enjoyed this movie though, perhaps even more than Batman V. Superman. DC is killing it.

How was Batman's cameo?
If there even was one I mean. I think I remember something a few months ago about Ben Affleck shooting stuff for this movie.

His cameos, yes he made more than one, were great. Ben Affleck is by far the best version of Batman so far, and this movie changed that opinion into a fact ... in my opinion, lol. This next spoiler tag has spoilers that don't necessarily spoil the movie, but it's lesser known stuff than Batman's cameo. There's a Marvel style mid-credits sequence with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne which helped build towards Justice League. There was also a cameo from The Flash near the beginning of the movie. I didn't expect either thing to happen.

I saw it last night. I didn't really have high expectations. I was expecting to enjoy Harley's parts but for the movie overall to be your average Will Smith comedy. I really liked it though. It was more serious than I thought, which I liked (and was also one of the reasons I liked BvS too). It wasn't as serious as BvS and there was plenty of humour but it wasn't an all-out comedy like the trailer kinda made me think it would be.
The first half an hour or so when everyone is being introduced is amazing and was the highlight for me. The rest was good but that was on another level. I loved the music in some of those scenes.
Maybe it's just because he didn't have a huge role but I liked The Joker despite the fact that I usually can't stand Jared Leto. They were obviously trying really hard to make most of his scenes look iconic or whatever but I didn't mind it.
Harley was predictably the highlight but I liked almost everyone. After Harley my favourites were probably Deadshot and El Diablo.
Enchantress creeped me the hell out at first. I thought she got a bit silly and hard to take seriously in the final scenes though but that's a minor complaint.
Batman's scenes were great.
The movie didn't seem to drag like most superhero movies do for me. I think 2 hours is the perfect running time for a movie like this.
I don't even know what they're doing next but I'd look forward to either a straight up sequel, a Harley solo movie or a Joker/Harley focused movie.

I finally got to see Suicide Squad today and I loved it. Between this and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice I definitely prefer the DCEU to the MCU, but that's neither here nor there. Harley was fantastic and I have to eat my words because Margot Robbie was perfect for the role in every way. I really can't think of anyone else who could have done a better job. Like Astro said, I went into it not really caring about Deadshot, but he was also great, and I liked Katana. Honestly, I'd never heard of Enchantress before this movie, and I wasn't expecting her to be the villain, but it was cool to have multiple women involved in the big, final fight. And speaking of strong women, Viola Davis was excellent as well. I didn't mind Jared Leto as The Joker at all, but I also didn't have much of an opinion on the role. He was totally a plot device to further Harley's story and character development here, and I'm sorry, but that was awesome lol. That character more than had his time to shine, and this was hers.
