People are already speculating he'll play Gambit in Apocalypse. It makes sense, since I can't possibly imagine them having another sequel planned this far in advance - especially in the midst of all this Singer mess . And if Apocalypse is indeed set in the 80's, wouldn't Gambit be about that age? Idk tbh, I haven't seen Origins in a minute and remember nothing about it other than Hugh's ass shot. Anyways, I heard they wanted to recast Jean, Storm and Cyclops with younger actors in Apocalypse, and since we now have our Gambit, let's discuss who else we'd like to play those three. I'll throw out Emma Roberts' name for Miss Jean.

I hope the producers objectify Channing as much as they do Hugh Jackman.

I just got back from seeing this. I was pleasantly surprised that the story wasn't all over the place, since production sounded like a mess. I was mad they killed Emma and the rest of the First Class mutants off-screen, but I decided it was a biased, petty complaint. Still stupid when they could have left their fates vague and possibly brought some of them back, but I guess prominent X-Men like Emma Frost and Banshee had to sit it out so that Bryan Singer could get his Ryan Murphy on and squeeze in Evan Peters and Lucas Till (not that I'm complaining about Wolverine's nude scene).
And I'm still annoyed that Anna Paquin's role was reduced to a cameo, but I guess that's what happens when Hugh Jackman or Jennifer Lawrence aren't in a scene. Speaking of J-Law, I found her performance to be flat. However, none of those things ruined the movie for me. The story was good, and the action scenes were cool. I loved the shot of Magneto raising the stadium.
Oh, but if they experimented on Mystique in the past to create the Sentinels of the future, how was she around in the first three X-Men movies? I'm quite sure they didn't let her go once they were finished with her, considering they killed the others. Still, if it was a plot hole and I didn't just miss something, it was one of many in this franchise, so I let it go and enjoyed the movie.
Also, I'm amazed they were able to keep Jean and Cyclops' returns a secret.

It was okay. Evan Peters was the best part of the movie. I agree Jennifer Lawrence was pretty bland, but I didn't like her as Mystique in First Class either. Started falling asleep towards the end but only because I didn't sleep last night so I've been up for like 30 hours. This was good for nostalgic feels but as a standalone film it was whatever.

I'm actually still in a bad mood after seeing this because the group of people I went with would not shut the fuck up. They kept asking questions throughout the film. And one of my friends, whom I love to death, is a film snob and kept bringing up plot holes (and you all know there are a shit ton). And it just took so much away from my experience. Anyways my thoughts are scattered, so please bear with me: Trying to ignore the above, I actually really did like it. I like that in a way, this was their reset button after the fuckery that was X3. I'd have to rewatch it to debate if it's as bad as I remember it being, but nonetheless I'm glad the whole time travel thing (despite my internal groans to the thought of it) went over well and the story was clear. As killing off the mutants in First Class, I thought it was bullshit. But then again I had issues with Emma being in that movie in the first place because the next movie would've been the perfect time to bring her in so she can fuck shit up with Scott and Jean. And it would've been an easy way to write back Jean/Logan. But maybe she's strong enough to do whatever Professor X did, or maybe even somehow managed to preserve herself in her diamond form. I was already annoyed going in knowing how huge Mystique and Wolverine's parts were gonna be. Mainly because I'm sick of J-Law and Wolverine's already had two spin offs of his own, but I get it. It's Wolverine. Jeniffer Lawrence wasn't too bad. I'm sad that we didn't get more of the future or flashbacks leading up to it because those were my favorite parts. And I loved that it was solemn all the way through until the end. Like seeing Colossus, Iceman, Sunspot, etc's deaths hit me each time. It definitely gave the movie a sense of urgency that I felt the X3 was lacking. Blink was wonderful. And her death hurt just as bad as the others. Warpath too. And Storm, I gasped when she was impaled. But like I said, the future scenes were my favorites. I was a bit confused about Shadowcat's time travel ability, but I read they only did that because they wanted Wolverine to be the one to travel back in time, rather than Kitty herself who originally did it. They did an awesome job with Pietro/Peter/Quicksilver. I especially loved his personality and that they tied him into Magneto, or at least hinted at it. Oh and at the end when he was watching Magneto on screen, I marked out when I saw him holding, who I'm assuming, was Scarlet Witch. I'm also glad we got to see Havok, even if it was for a second. I'm glad they put Rogue back in, even if for a second. And I also really loved seeing Kitty and Piotr teaching together because any nod at the comics or easter eggs always gets me excited. But if Gambit's getting his own movie, I want Rogue to at least make an appearance. I was surprised to see Scott and Jean back, but again it was salt in the wound in regards to Emma's death, and her placement in the series. And the scene after the credits was cool, but even as I was sitting through the credits, I knew there was gonna be some kind of appearance or allusion to Apocalypse. tl;dr: It was pretty good, even if there were plot holes. BUT I expected there to be because the Wolverine movies are what created most of them. I actually plan on seeing it again, because it's something I know I'd be able to watch a few times. It was definitely better than X3 and I'd even say First Class. I disagree wholeheartedly about it being 'whatever' as a standalone. Taking the spin offs out of the equation and just keeping in mind the main four films, I think it's probably up there with X2. The action scenes were amazing, especially the beginning. They did a great job showcasing Blink, Sunspot, Warpath, and Bishop as well as Iceman/Shadowcat. And they did great keeping the past interesting and making the future look like a dark place. But also from keeping the storyline from getting anymore confusing than it already was. Obviously it had it's plotholes, but that was expected and I was willing to overlook them because X-Men has always been one of my favorite comic series.

Here's What Happens In Anna Paquin's Deleted 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' SceneDirector Bryan Singer previously explained to Entertainment Weekly how Paquin's appearance would have involved a big rescue sequence involving Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore). Unfortunately, Singer said it ended up being " extraneous " to the overall film. There's been a lot of speculation on what exactly Rogue's cut scene was and how it fit into the overall arc of 'Days of Future Past." Screenwriter Simon Kinberg recently expanded on Rogue's cut sequence in an interview with Empire magazine, detailing what went on in an elaborate 10-minute scene t hat would have pushed the film closer to a two-and-a-half hour movie. What Happens In The Deleted Scene: In the film, Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) sends Wolverine (Jackman) back to the past to save the X-Men and all of mankind from giant mutant-hunting robots (just go with it). During one part late in the film, Pryde accidentally gets stabbed by Wolverine while he's being sent back in time leaving her wounded badly. There's one X-Men who has the ability to borrow other mutants' powers for a while. Enter Rogue. Iceman, Magneto, and Xavier would have went to save the mutant from some "dark, scary place" and bring her to where the X-Men were hiding out to step in for Kitty.* If you go back and watch the first official trailer for the movie, you can actually catch glimpses of the cut scenes with Paquin. Here's Paquin being saved from that dark place by Iceman and Magneto (no Xavier in sight). Here's another image of McKellen and Ashmore. Things are looking pretty bleak. And here's Rogue appearing to get ready to use her powers on Kitty Pryde. For fans watching the movie knowing Rogue was cut, it's pretty evident this is where she most likely would have made her entrance. In this case, it would have made perfect sense for her character to aid Pryde. Why It Was Cut Kinberg went into depth with Empire magazine on why the scene didn't make it into the film. Via Empire: “The Rogue subplot was originally there because I wanted a mission for the older Charles and Eric to do, something like Unforgiven – two last gunslingers, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman – that kind of a mission for them. I just loved the idea of that. Nothing in the story necessitated that, but just for a lark, I thought it would be a cool thing to see, because we may never see it again. “But it does not service the main story. I thought it would increase the urgency and the stakes of the plot in the future, but it actually does the opposite, because it makes you feel like there is an answer out there. You think once Rogue gets here, we’ll have an unlimited amount of time. The ticking clock that we’d established with Kitty getting wounded and losing her powers… well, Rogue would show up and press stop on the clock. So for all of those narrative reasons, there was this ten-minute subplot that had to go.” As Kinberg and Singer have said, the big rescue scene doesn't sound necessary (though cool nonetheless). However, i f they really wanted to keep Paquin in the film, it would have made sense if Rogue was just with the group of X-Men from the movie's start so she could have helped revive her fellow X-Man later on. No need for the huge rescue scene. If you're bummed about the scene being cut, both Singer and Kinberg have said it will most likely appear as an extra once the film's released. * Earlier, I noted Rogue would most likely step in to borrow Wolverine’s healing powers to save a wounded Kitty Pryde, but as a reader pointed out Rogue would only be able to heal herself as opposed to other characters (sorry Kitty). The story has been edited to reflect this change. I wouldn't have minded the movie being 2 and a half hours at all. Most movies are. Who cares if Rogue would only be able to heal herself? Maybe she learned that by holding another person she can transfer powers through her like an electric current. Just like Kitty randomly learned how to send people back through time.
The should release a full director's cut with that original story on the Blu-Ray instead of just a deleted scene.

'X-Men: Days of Future Past - The Rogue Cut' Coming Summer 2015 It's not just Wolverine who gets to revisit X-Men movie history. An extended edition of the studio’s summer superhero blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past will be released for the home market next year, restoring a famously-excised sequence centering around Anna Paquin’s character Rogue. The existence of an extended cut featuring a subplot featuring the character was initially teased on Twitter by the franchise’s executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner in July, with Fox EVP of marketing communications James Finn later confirming that an extended edition of the movie was indeed in the works for some point in 2015. As Variety first reported, the recut release will feature the subtitle "the Rogue Cut." Earlier this month, writer and executive producer Simon Kinberg took responsibility for Paquin’s scenes being absent from the finished movie, saying that they were “a deviation from the main story of the movie” that needed to be cut for time. “If it’s anybody’s fault, it was mine, because I shouldn’t have written it that way,” he said. “I should’ve integrated her into the main story.” Director Bryan Singer had previously said that he hoped that the scenes would one day surface, as “she was quite wonderful in [them].” Ahead of the “Rogue Cut,” the theater version of X-Men: Days of Future Past will be released on Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and DVD Oct. 14, with extras including other deleted scenes from the movie as well as an audio commentary by Singer.
