This is the only season I've watched all the way through (past the auditions.) Phillip's last song is probably the only thing on the show that was legitimately good. Jessica had a decent voice, but she got boring pretty fast. The lack of a duet between Phillip and Heejun was really lame. They could have done away with one of Jennifer Lopez's overly produced and awful songs.

I thought this was probably the strongest top ten in eleven seasons. Season 7 still has my heart, but they're weren't nearly as polished as these guys. I feel like since Simon left they've really pushed things and are actually trying to create a group of strong performances every week, as opposed to maybe two frontrunners and a bunch of also-rans.
Philip was a favourite from the start, but this year it felt like anyone out of him, Jessica, Joshua, Skylar and Colton had a legit chance at taking it. Usually you get to top six (in some years top TEN) and the final two is a foregone conclusion.

End of season finalist rank: 1. Joshua - That Fantasia duet made me want to scream. 2. Skylar - Wasn't sure what to make of her pre-live shows, but turned out to be one of the best performers in Idol history. Her voice is mega underrated too. 3. Erika - Might have been first had she lasted longer. Beautiful voice. 4. Jessica - Grew on me a lot. Beautiful voice, and I think she has a genuine chance to do well in pop/R&B. 5. Elise - Beyond skilled as a vocalist. Sometimes it didn't work so much, but other times she was easily at the top of the table. 6. Philip - I do think him winning was a bit of an anticlimax, but I like him a lot. He's a talent and he seems like a really nice guy to boot. His personality reminded me of Jason Castro. 7. Hollie - Has come a long, long way. She's still a bit stiff, but I feel like we grew to know her as a personality and as a performer as time went on and she made real strives to improve. Glad she did so well. 8. Heejun - Heejun made the auditions/Hollywood/Vegas. Sweet voice, but will be remembered for his personality. Not a bad thing. 9. DeAndre - Not my thing but undeniably skilled. 10. Jermaine - Hey, remember Jermaine? Aw, he was a different kind of contestant. Shame how things went down. 11. Jeremy - I liked I Know You Won't and he seemed sweet. 12. Colton - Annoying, voice isn't great and not my thing, but he knows what he's doing and who he appeals to. 13. Shannon - Umm... Wishlist for AI12: - Randy Jackson to leave please. Justin Timberlake in. - Kelly Clarkson! It was so weird that she didn't perform this year, given how successful this album campaign has been so far and you'd think Idol would want to show off their most successful alumnus and original winner. That's all.

Are you saying she should just perform next year, or she should become a judge? Cause thinking about it, since JLo is leaving, I think it'd be pretty cool to have the original Idol choosing the next Idol.

Well she can become a judge too, but she should perform first and foremost. It was just really odd that they couldn't get her on given how big MKIA and especially Stronger were. J-Lo is leaving? I like J-Lo.

I do sort of see it. They have similar mouths and the same droopy, sleepy kind of eyes.

I guess none of the judges left after all despite a shit ton of rumors cause the LA auditions start in an hour and all the judges are there.
I was debating going just so I can suck and get on TV but decided against it

Steven Tyler is gone. J-Lo is rumored to follow. Don't know what they're going to do since they already filmed the auditions but whatever.

They should totally get Stephen Lynch to judge. Ted Nugent would be great too, he's insane.
