Oh yeah, I forgot J Lo was a judge this year. I may finally watch, because I kind of love her.

Aww, y'all leave Jenni alone. (She could stand to condition though.)

I can't watch until tonight. I hear the judging panel is good though. Of course, it's not hard to beat a panel featuring Kara DioGuardi.

Wow, this show is actually good now.
I like that they focused on the good singers more than the (fake) bad singers. J-Lo kills the hell out of Paula. They should've started the show with her. She's nice, gives good advice, is far more relevant than Paula ever was, and is much better to look at. Steven Tyler is good too. I'm glad Simon's gone. He was a shit judge. He was only good at ripping apart bad singers. That's it.
It wasn't too corny and was actually good to watch for the first time. I like it. I'll still stop watching after Hollywood week though because then the show gets so full of itself it's sickening.

The auditions are always the worst part, so that's a good sign. I'd be more hyped up about the judges if Randy wasn't still there. Of course, he was the best one last year, which says it all, lol. I miss Paula and her craziness. Stupid Kara. They ought to bring in Dannii and Louis to shake things up.

This is so much better than last year already. The judging panel is great; let's hope it stays that way. And the contrast between these auditions and the XF auditions is shocking.
I can't remember their names, so bear with me:
- S6 3-Voice Girl: Liked her loads. Yeah, I'm bored of 'Hallelujah', but she sang it beautifully. Her voice sounds so pretty and old fashioned. Definitely a lot better than she was back then, IMO.
- Second guy who Steven Tyler clapped and banged along with: Really nice voice. Hope to see more of him.
- Girl who goes to musical theatre school: OK, so I downloaded Carrie's first (or maybe it was her second, idk) album a while back, and I remember that 'Young and Beautiful' song. This girl was totally just imitating Carrie Underwood, who I'm not even much of a fan of. It reminded me of when Liam Pain impersonated Bublé in his audition. Sure, you can sing well enough, but get your own voice. :ermm:
- Jersey Shore: I lol'd at the boob reveal, but her voice feels very been-there-done-that. Not a fan.
- Guy who had the disability and sang 'Yesterday': He had a lovely voice. I wasn't jumping up and down about it, but it was pretty. I can see him lasting a while.
- Theatrical Girl Who Likes Britney: Lol, I love her. At times she felt a little forced and annoying, but I put that down to nerves and a genuine need to get through. Her voice was great, and I'm all for Theatre Idol. And no, I don't count Adam Lambert.
- Obnoxious YouTube Video Girl: No thanks. I love 'Midnight Train to Georgia', and she ruined it.
- Singing Waitress: Yeah, GBTC isn't typically sung that way, but I thought she sounded awesome regardless. Her voice had edge and charisma, but it wasn't too 'out there' for Idol. Hope she goes far. Defo my favourite from this episode.
- Girl whose dad had throat cancer: She was aiight. Nothing special.
- Bronx Twin: Liked him a lot. I was worried that he'd try to Cook Eleanor Rigby up (ew), but he phrased it really nicely. And I liked that he took the opportunity to make little changes to 'I'm Yours', 'cause it made it not feel so overdone. Good job.
Overall, favourite so far is Waitress, followed by S6 auditionee and desperate theatrical girl. Look forward to the next show.

I was kind of disappointed with the lack of train wrecks in the first episode. I'm one of those people who watches the auditions for the secondhand embarrassment.

Thoughts:
The judging panel continues to be so much better than the previous ones. Best panel ever. They all seem to genuinely like each other, and there's a great chemistry there. Steven is my favourite. J-Lo is sweet and kinda what Cheryl tries to be, but a billion times easier to like. Randy is Randy, but he's trying harder this year, and he works well with the other two.
- Piano Teacher had an awesome voice. If you sing SOTR you'd better do it well, and he did just that. I have a really good feeling about him.
- Girl who sang 'Make You Feel My Love' was good. I liked her a lot more when she hit the higher notes, because her voice sounded raspy and cool when she did that.
- Latino guy was really good too. It'd be a nice change to have a latin Idol who actually sings Spanish once in a while. And nice abs. Oh, and he also gave me reason to see Steven Tyler's chest.
- Girl whose uncle/grandfather (I forget which) was Randy's football coach wasn't all that. There were times when she sounded nice, but she kept falling off pitch. I was surprised when none of the judges called her out on it.
- Boy who was bullied: his story was a bit blah, but his voice was good. Like Jen said, the contrast between his speaking voice and his singing voice was surprising and nice to hear. He looked kinda like a younger Ben Mills, lol.
- 15 year old guy with the high voice was very talented. I just wonder if his voice has broken yet, lol. There's no telling if he'll be that strong when it does break, and it'd be kinda tragic if it started during the lives.
- Girl with special needs daughter: on one hand I don't know if I like it when people use their kids and their problems to progress on this show, but I admit, I still got emotional despite that. Carrie Underwood power ballads tend to suck, but she sounded really good, and I liked that she didn't suddenly lose the strong accent the moment she started singing, which is what a lot of people tend to do (particularly when they sing country, if you can call it that).
In sum, another really good episode. Favourite was the piano teacher.
