When I first started watching on a weekly basis (early 2000) the match I remember most wanting to see was Rock vs. Austin and I obviously got it soon after at WM X7. I also wanted a Rock/Austin/HHH triple threat but that one never happened.
When Shawn Michaels returned I wanted him vs. Chris Jericho and it happened at WM 19.
When Sable returned to WWE I wanted her to face Trish which obviously never happened.
I wanted Undertaker vs. Goldberg after Taker went back to being The Deadman but Goldberg left at that time.
Around 2004/2005 when John Cena was coming up I was looking forward to him facing HHH/Batista/Randy Orton. Cena/HHH happened in 2006 and Cena/Orton ended up happening a million times. The Batista one took the longest but eventually happened in 2008.
During Maryse’s era I wanted a one-off return from Trish so they could face each other.
The Rock vs. John Cena was probably the biggest one I never thought would happen but actually did. And coincidentally, it took place on the same show as another of my dream matches, a hell in a cell match between Undertaker and HHH.
The only realistic one I think I have left is Cena/Undertaker at WM.
Honestly, I can’t complain. Over the years I’ve gotten most of the ones I wanted.
