I'm so against this. It's horribly miscast and there's no way it'll be as funny as The Room itself.
I read the book this is based on and thought it was amazing, but if they were to turn it into a movie, then Brad Dourif should have played Tommy, not James Franco of all people.

Speaking of The Room, I had lent the movie to my friends a couple of years ago and we recently discussed it on facebook and i had this screenshot saved: The reactions to the movie are so polarizing, you either love it or hate it. There is no indifference.

I saw The Room on TV a few months ago. I only watched a few minutes of it though. That was enough to see how awful it was.

James Franco looks just like him, but sounds nothing like him. I don't see the point of this at all. Like Tarry said, it won't be as funny as The Room itself. If anything it's going to kill the joke.
Also, Zac Efron has a goatee in it, so I too am against this.

That scene is adapted perfectly from the book, so knowing that they're going to be faithful to Greg's story has me feeling more positive, but yeah, James Franco doesn't have the accent down, at least based on this glimpse.
An adaptation of this is pointless though, they should just rerelease The Room in theatres.

Speaking of The Room, there's a screening taking place here tomorrow night and it's the one damn night this month I'm unable to go.
I'm gonna have to get my parents to mail me my DVD so I can host the viewing party on here sooner.

Every single scene in this trailer is taken from Greg's book almost word for word, I can't believe how faithful they're being to his telling of the story. It's great.
I officially cannot wait for this movie.

Also, the bit where he's getting shirtless headshots is especially funny to me, because that man has sent me the same fucking shirtless picture to me three times 😂

I'm watching solely for the scene between Zac Efron and Josh Hutcherson.

This was fun. I really wish they'd stop trying to act like this was a 100% original idea and they didn't completely copy Ed Wood tho.

I'm watching solely for the scene between Zac Efron and Josh Hutcherson. Also, this was half a joke, but Zac Efron's cameo did get one of the best responses in my theater and he was hilarious. And Josh's Denny voice made me laugh every time.

So, I finally watched this.
Honestly, it was good, but it wasn't as good as it should have been. Some of it was really funny, but they skipped over so many parts of the story that are much funnier/crazier than what they included in the movie. For some reason they had Greg excitedly accept the role of Mark, not realising how bad the movie would be, even though he just read the script. In real life, Greg turned down the role and volunteered to be the line producer. He only took the role of Mark when Tommy offered him a lot more money. They then shot the scenes featuring Greg as Mark in secret until the guy who was originally cast as Mark found out that Tommy was trying to replace him and he quit.
I know they couldn't include everything, because the movie would have been 3 hours long, but skipping over Greg taking Tommy to see The Talented Mr. Ripley was a big mistake, because his reaction to that movie led him to write The Room in the first place.
Anyway, watch this movie if you want to be entertained, but watch The Room and read the book if you want to be more entertained.

I watched this last night. I've never seen The Room outside of a few scenes but it didn't really matter because I was still able to enjoy this.
