In February of 2016, the WWE Universe will be coasting at high speed on the Road to WrestleMania 32. Meanwhile, at that same time in winter of next year, Rosa Mendes will be welcoming a brand-new baby girl, as she very happily announced in an exclusive interview WWE.com. The Diva mom-to-be describes her excitement, the inspiration for her daughter’s name and the division she’s stepping away from in a heartfelt Q&A.
WWE.COM: What is the big news that you’d like to share with the WWE Universe today, Rosa?
ROSA: I’m pregnant, and I’m having a little girl. Her name’s going to be Jordan Elizabeth Schubenski and she’ll be born February 2016. Mom’s middle name is Elizabeth, and I’ve always loved the name Jordan for a girl.
WWE.COM: That’s incredible news! How far along are you, exactly, and how are you feeling?
ROSA: I’m three months, and I’m feeling really good. I’m past the morning sickness stage, so, I’m feeling awesome, but the hardest part was not telling anybody [and keeping] it a secret from all my friends and loved ones. That was the hardest part for me.
WWE.COM: So is this the first time anyone in the WWE locker room will be hearing this news, officially?
ROSA: Nobody knows. Everybody’s going be finding out after this interview.
WWE.COM: With this great news, what does this mean for you in WWE and your career at the moment?
ROSA: This baby has really motivated me and inspired me. I look at powerful moms like Stephanie McMahon. She’s a mother of three and she does it all, and her kids are bright and intelligent. So, this has truly motivated me. And, I look at my accomplishments — I’m a WWE Diva, I’m an entrepreneur and now I’m going to have the most important job in the world, being a mother and giving this baby an amazing life.
WWE.COM: You’ll no doubt be very busy in the coming months preparing.
ROSA: I’ve been keeping myself very busy. I’ve also teamed up with Rise Above Fitness, and I’m on a prenatal workout plan to keep me strong and healthy throughout my pregnancy and to get me back in shape after the baby’s born. [laughs] I’ve been really busy starting a new kids clothing line, which launched two days ago. It’s called Hoods Up Kids, and it’s really cool and edgy baby clothes with really good cotton that is perfect for a baby’s sensitive skin.
WWE.COM: Obviously, you’re going to take some time away from the ring. How difficult is it for you to step away from right now with so much buzz around the Divas division and the “Divas Revolution”?
ROSA: It’s been actually really hard adjusting, but I’ve been watching the girls on TV and they’ve been doing amazing. The new Divas are awesome in the ring and I’m really, really proud of them.
WWE.COM: On top of this awesome baby bombshell, Is there anything else you want to say to WWE, your fellow Superstars and Divas, or your fans around the world?
ROSA: I’d like to thank WWE’s executive offices, the talent relations staff, the medical team and everyone that has supported me throughout this.
I’m just really excited about this news. I’m really, really happy and I hope everybody’s just as happy as I am. I can’t wait to just keep everyone updated, post pictures and have everyone follow me on this little journey that I have for the next nine months.
