Wow, okay, Ariana did that @ the soundtrack. I LOVED Cinderella and this looks more like it than Maleficent, so I'll see it after all. I just wish I hadn't seen that meme comparing Emma Watson's doll to Justin Beiber, because now that's all I see.

Also shouldn't they all have French accents instead of British ones?

I loved. As soon as it ended I wanted to watch it again. I was iffy with the pacing at the beginning, and a few of the changes bugged me, but it all came together in the end. I was NOT here for the original songs tho, except maybe Beast's was okay. It just seemed like they were trying to push for a best original song Oscar since the good classic songs can't be nominated. The original songs were tweaked a little here and there but were great, and I'm happy they all made the cut and weren't reduced to the credits like Cinderella and Jungle Book. Emma Watson sang really well, so the haters need to shut up, and my theater applauded after Be Our Guest. These are actually spoilers even if you've seen the cartoon so wait: I like how they changed LaFou's character a lot. Not just because they made him gay, but because it was actually a very realistic thing. Being so obsessed and enthralled by someone that you ignore how nasty they are and defend them, until they finally cross that line and you see how blind you were. Him struggling with his conscious and redeeming himself at the end was a great sub-plot. I love that he got the pretty guy in the end too, and tbh even Josh Gad was kinda cute to me in the role. Not him bending over the table while singing "Gaston" tho I was like, Josh, no, it's a children's movie lol. My crowd was very well receptive to all the "controversial" gay stuff, even the kids, and everyone clapped when the wardrobe helped the guy find himself with his makeover and then when he and LeFou met during the dance. It was really cutely done and althought it was short, it wasn't subtle, and I'm glad Disney is finally putting openly gay characters in their movies in a positive, non-stereotypical light. Luke Evans was really good as Gaston, and I love how much more hateable he was. Sure, Gaston in the cartoon was a giant douche, and he tried to fight the Beast, but it's debatable that he actually deserved to die. He was just a headstrong asshole hunter with a huge ego. But this movie he deserved to die, 100%. Especially after leaving Belle's dad to die like that. The little sub-plots they tried to add with Beast's father and Belle's mother were kinda meh and didn't really seem to fit. And I MUCH preferred Chip stowing away with Belle and helping them escape than them just picking the lock. The ending with them all dying was insanely sad, even though I knew they were about to come back to life lol. I was fighting tears, and tbh if Chip had shattered I would've lost it. It's funny to me that just like the cartoon, Beast is uglier in human form lol. I just do NOT like that actor from Legion. Something about the way he acts just bothers me, and he almost ruined the opening scene for me. He was okay at the end. I laughed at her telling him to grow a beard. Cute line. It made me sad they took away the Cogsworth/Mrs. Potts romance from the cartoon. They were supposed to sing Beauty and the Beast together because they're in love too. Speaking of Cogsworth, Ian McKellen was cute in the role, but he was nowhere NEAR as good as David Ogden Stiers version of the character, who is one of the funniest Disney characters ever. Ewan McGregor on the other hand surprised me and was really good in the role despite his voice in the first trailer being one of the things that made me nervous about the movie to begin with. Like I already said, Be Our Guest was a show stealer here just as much as in the original, although the sidekicks in this film don't hold a candle to (zing) their cartoon counterparts. The feather duster was gorgeous tho, omg, and the little black girls in front of me were so happy when she was revealed to be black, it was so sweet.
There were a few technical problems with the film, like blurry shots and way too many close-ups, 3D would be a nightmare so I'm glad I seen it in regular, but overall I really really liked it, and I'm happy because it was my favorite Disney movie. My friends and I are already plan on watching it again next week.

Emma Watson now joins Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz as the actresses with the most $100,000,000 films; 11 each.

If this takes place in France, why did they all have English accents except Lumiere? Why not just have them lose the accents altogether? That bothered me so much. That and Belle's dress was kind of underwhelming. I'm fine with it not being a copy of the original, but it just wasn't breath taking. Especially since it's such an iconic dress.
Dan Stevens wouldn't have been my first choice for the Beast. Or second. Or third. Not that it mattered since he was a beast for most of it.
Josh Gadd was great. I liked that as Gaston got worse he put up with him less and less. They made such a great villain out if Gaston too, his personality really did a great job mirroring the toxic masculinity we see irl. I apparently have a thing for Luke Evans now though.
All in all it was still great. And I'm excited for any other live action remakes, Little Mermaid next please.

Girl, I hope these two statements don't coincide. Be careful what you wish for lol. Disney needs to block that shit. I thought it was a student film at first.

Belle's dress was kind of underwhelming. I'm fine with it not being a copy of the original, but it just wasn't breath taking. Especially since it's such an iconic dress. I didn't really think much about this until I seen a gif set containing these just now: It is pretty dull in comparison. But on the other hand, Ella's was made of magic while Belle's was made by a dresser in an old damp castle. So it fits the darker theme.
