Deadline.com reports that WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena will be starring in Tina Fey & Amy Poehler’s comedy movie The Nest, about two sisters who throw one last party in their parents’ soon-to-be-sold house.
Pitch Perfect‘s Jason Moore is directing from a screenplay by Paula Pell, with Fey producing for her Little Stranger, Inc. banner alongside Jay Roach and his Everyman Pictures and John Lyons. Poehler is exec producing with Jeff Richmond and Brian Bell. Fey and Poehler anchor the cast which also includes James Brolin, Ike Barinholtz, Maya Rudolph and John Leguizamo.
Character details are under wraps but Deadline reports that Cena is set to play a villainous role after spending over a dozen years as the WWE’s All-American hero.
The film will release on December 18th, 2015 which means that Cena will be facing off with Star Wars: Episode VII.
The twelve-time WWE champ and sometime rapper started branching into acting with 2006′s The Marine, following that action vehicle with 2009′s 12 Rounds. Cena, a frequent Make-A-Wish celebrity participant, also demonstrated a softer side in indie drama Legendary and played dad to internet personality Lucas Cruikshank in three Fred movies.
His move into the comedy world is already in the works: Cena is currently filming Judd Apatow’s Amy Schumer vehicle, Trainwreck. Cena is repped by ICM Partners.
The Champ out here starring in movies, reality shows, video games, making dreams come true, helping people lose weight and still finding time to carry around two World title belts on the side. Now can he overcome the odds once more and take down Star Wars??

I'll just edit the OP to make this an all purpose thread for Cena's two movies because I keep getting mixed up with them. Spoilers on his character in the Judd Apatow one: www.pwinsider.com/article/89071/the-full-monty-lots-of-details-on-john-cenas-performance-in-upcoming-judd-apatow-film-where-you-will-see-a-lot-of-well-different-sides-to-him-as-an-actor-what-this-could-mean-for-cenas-future.html?p=1THE FULL MONTY: LOTS OF DETAILS ON JOHN CENA'S PERFORMANCE IN UPCOMING JUDD APATOW FILM WHERE YOU WILL SEE A LOT OF WELL, DIFFERENT, SIDES TO HIM AS AN ACTOR...& WHAT THIS COULD MEAN FOR CENA'S FUTURE By Mike Johnson on 2014-10-23 15:00:35
Warning: Film spoilers regarding John Cena's character, but not to the plot of the film itself
The first ever industry screening of Judd Apatow's film "Trainwreck" was held last night. The Universal Pictures film is slated to be released in July 2015 and will feature John Cena in a major supporting role, playing the boyfriend of lead Amy Schumer, who also wrote the script, during the first half of the film, which is Cena's first major film role outside of WWE Studios productions.
According to a Hollywood source that was at the screening, John Cena "nailed it" in terms of his performance that was described to me as, "Funny. Charismatic. Borderline X-rated."
In "Trainwreck", Cena plays Steven, described as a dim-witted health and Cross-fit obsessed gym rat. Over the course of the film, the script and Cena's performance plays up the fact that he actually be a closeted homoesexual, which got a great reaction out of the audience last night and with one scene in particular, ended up with Cena getting the loudest laughs of the screening.
That scene features Schumer's character asking Cena's Steven to speak dirty to her while they are making love. Our sources notes that, "Steven at first resists, though eventually settles on, "you looked so hot when I first met you...wearing those jeans that I love...that make your a** look great...from behind you look like a...a...duuuuuuuuude!!" The emphasis on "dude" is written as such because that is at that point where Cena's character has an earth shattering orgasm."
Over the course of the film, Cena and Schumer have the one graphic sex scene while other scenes feature Cena doing full nudity from behind and the aforementioned "bringing down the house" scene where Cena's character, after having sex, is seen fully nude, with a dampened washcloth covering (but being held up) by his male parts, which got a huge reaction from the audience.
The source, who I obviously cannot name, has a great grasp on the Hollywood world from working in that industry for many years, compared the role to Dave Bautista's role in "Guardians of the Galaxy" in that when the film comes out, Cena's work is going to catch a lot of people off-guard and surprise them.
Those who see the film will be especially surprised if they walk in expecting Cena to be close to his WWE persona as I was told it's not that style of performance, but a very adult, racy, explicit character completely unlike anything WWE audiences have come to expect from Cena. The role is said to be far bigger over the course of the film than one would expect as well.
It should be noted that a private screening of this nature is held by Studios to gauge what is working and not working in the film in advance of initial edits before the final product hits theaters. Judd Apatow, who was in attendance at the screening, referred to the film as a "work in progress" So, Cena's role could always end up being smaller by the time the film is released.
That said, I was told that if the work seen in the early cut last night makes it to the theaters, the doors may be open for Cena to get a lot more serious Hollywood work, similar to the attention Dave Bautista is now getting post-Guardians. Dolph Ziggler will be crying watching this film.

Can I just point out how annoying it is that you made a single thread for 2 completely different movies just because your man crush has a small part in both. But anyway, here's the trailer for the Schumer one. It should be retitled "B & MC's Adventures on Dating Apps" Also, impromptu casting! Colin Quinn in the first 20 seconds: Triple H.

I saw Amy Schumer's show for the first time a few days ago. Some of it was funny but a lot of it was crap.
Not that I'll be watching this movie for her anyway.

You aren't even ashamed of how blatantly gay your Cena obsession is anymore, huh? He looks like he'll be good in it! Plus, I can't stan for HHH so much right now until he's proven innocent so I'll have to go in extra hard on Cena for the time being.

I'm actually looking forward to Trainwreck for more than just Cena reasons now.
I was iffy on Amy Schumer at first but I've seen a lot more of her now and I think she's funny.

I finally saw Trainwreck. It's probably my favourite Judd Apatow directed movie now. And Cena did indeed steal the show.
