Mine will always be Royal Rumble 2000-WrestleMania XX. When I could I would watch RAW/SD every week, watch every PPV and sometimes even watched the crappy shows like Heat and Velocity. 2003 SmackDown in particular was amazing.
After WrestleMania XX I started only watching RAW and important PPV’s (and whatever ones happened to be free on Sky Sports). A combination of me getting older, plus Rock, Austin, Goldberg, Lesnar and Sable all leaving and Chris Benoit and JBL (who I hated) being champions of both shows made me lose a lot of interest. I gave up on SD completely and only continued to watch RAW for Trish and Evolution.
Sometime around January 2005 my interest picked back up and I remember loving that year’s Royal Rumble plus the HHH/Batista/Evolution storyline. I still didn’t bother with SD but things like Cena being drafted, the ECW One Night Stand’s, Edge’s title win and feud with Cena, the Trish/Mickie stuff and the DX revival kept me interested in RAW over the next couple years.
It stayed that way until 2008 when HHH got drafted to SD and I finally started watching that show for the first time in years. So I can indirectly thank him for making me a Maryse fan because if he never got drafted at that time I never would have witnessed the rise of Maryse.
When Maryse and HHH got drafted back to RAW in 2009 I stopped watching SD again and basically haven’t watched it since. Now I usually miss RAW live but read the results and watch clips of what I want to see. I watch the major PPV’s and still whatever ones happen to air on Sky Sports. And even though I watch less overall than I have in years gone by I still look forward to WrestleMania and Royal Rumble every year as much as I ever did.
Well that was a kind of long winded answer considering I already answered in the first sentence but yeah, Royal Rumble 2000-WrestleMania XX is my favourite era.
