Arrested Development movie back on?

Again…

It's on, again. Creator Mitch Hurwitz has confirmed that he and Arrested Development producer Jim Vallely are working on a script for the film. Here are some highlights…

What Is the Status Of The Movie?: "Believe it or not, we have started the script. We're taking a little abeyance while we get ['Running Wilde'] up and running. But it is our absolute next priority and we can't wait to do it."

On Some Of The Script Details: "We're changing some of the Bush references to Obama because we started it awhile ago. And the Bluths may not be vacationing in the Gulf of Mexico anymore. We also might have to recast the part of Uncle Mel, the former action movie star. But other than that we have a clear path."

On Teasing The Fans: "Believe it or not," he says, "I do not enjoy teasing our wonderful and devoted audience, which is one reason it appears that I've been so cagey about this. It's just that I don't want to promise what I can't deliver."

Hopefully this is for really real this time.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, creator Mitch Hurwitz has confirmed during a TCA press tour that the Arrested Development movie is a go. Here is what he had to say…

What is The Film's Status?: "We're writing it; we're halfway through. The reason I've been so cagey is fans have been so [eager about it]. It's not going to be a big money maker. It's going to be fun, like a family reunion."

What Could Slow Down Production?: "The only stumbling block could be scheduling. Everybody wants to play together. I really want to do it."

There's one of these updates like every month and they all say the same damn thing. Just hurry the fuck up already! At this rate expect like a 2018 release date. I can picture George Michael still as like a 30 year old banana stand worker though so it's all good, as long as they make it happen eventually.

Half a year later and...

Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz recently spoke about the long rumored film based on the TV show. Here is what he had to say…

"We've started that process and it is our sincere hope to shoot it this year and get it out this year.

That's what we're hoping but a lot of things have to fall into place for that to happen… I don't like to toy with the affections of our fans. They've been so supportive and we're so grateful, so I kind of hate to answer the question until I can say, ‘Yep, we've shot it, it opens next week'. Otherwise it feels like we're toying with people and we do not mean to do that. It has just taken a while to get it going."

They're really taking the name "Arrested Development" to heart. This is becoming the "Detox" of movies.

Jason Bateman Talks Arrested Development Movie

Says the plot is incredible...

Jason Bateman spoke to MTV and said that show creator Mitch Hurwitz is hard at work on the script.

"For the very first time, [Hurwitz] sat me down last week to talk about what he's got and where he's going and what do I think. As a fan of the show, I was vibrating with excitement that he was pulling me behind the curtain. I can confirm what his update was, which was that he is very deep into the work on it. The odds of him getting it done before the end of the year, as he says he wants to, are good. It's everything you would want it to be and more. I really hope he finishes soon so we have a shot at doing it before the end of the year."

For the first time ever, I now have faith that this movie is actually going to happen...eventually.
