Today, 6-time Champion and Beautiful People OG, Angelina Love announced her departure from TNA via Twitter. Please leave your condolences and best wishes. Angelina Love and Velvet Sky were the only reason to tune into Impact in 2007. When I first laid eyes on the feisty Canadienne, I knew she had all the makings to become a star. Blonde hair, implants, and a <20 BMI. When she lost the polyester extensions, there was no doubt that she was on the path to relevance. It was truly inspiring to watch Velvet/Love Productions emerge from the hot messes they were into the forces that influenced this very website. People were always so quick to compare her Velvet, but I thought Angelina was Beautiful in her own right. She had the attitude and ability to become the first ever relevant Knockouts Champion (sorry Gail). And my favorite Knockout of all time. Although her botox excursions and Myspace habits may not always be up to par, I prefer to remember her for her vicious onslaughts on backstage personnel and her impeccable quotability. Like Maryse, enough can't be said about Angelina's impact on my identity as a Board Certified™ Beautiful Person. As the inspiration for my navel piercing, I've always admired her ability to maintain just the right balance of edginess and feminity. We only hope she's off to do even bigger and better things. After all, this is TNA we're talking about. There's nowhere to go but up.

What's most upsetting about this is that for the past year TNA paid Angelina dust, and she really was in my mind one of the best all-around performers that they had, male or female. Her mic work was incomparable in the Knockouts division and she was a beautiful in-ring technician. I'm certain her talents will be in demand on the independent circuit. I'd rather not focus on the bad, or whine about what could have been, and instead celebrate the legacy Angelina left behind. As co-founder of the Beautiful People, she paved the way for TNA's women's division ( As well as WWE's. Hey, LayCool!) and took a would be typical heel act and developed it into so much more alongside Velvet. I'll always look back on how hated they were, to the point where fans cheered for them to be Gored by Rhino or shaved bald by their fellow Knockouts, with a smile. As females they broke barriers and got more heat and ratings than many of their male counterparts, and Angelina's contributions to the company will certainly be missed by me. In remembrance, here's one of my personal favorite segments where Angelina and her donkey booty proudly showcased her comic genius and silver tongue by shading Awesome Kong to her face at their contract signing.

You know, I was going to post a "good riddance" type of message, but then I realised how much I actually liked Angelina Love. Along with Velvet she really made the Knockouts division a must watch from the time The Beautiful People debuted, until Angelina was released the first time. The Break-A-Bitch will go down as one of my favourite moves, and is currently tied with The Lay-Out for my favourite female wrestling move. Her matches with Kong and Tara will go down in history as some of the best, and hopefully she gets work in a better promotion.

I just noticed this was seperate from the other thread.
The only time I really watched TNA semi regularly was 2007-08 so at least I got to see most of the real BP era. Even though I can't find it on YT right now, my best specific Angelina moment was her showing up Taylor Wilde in a bikini contest. I'm sure someone can confirm that this did happen and I didn't just imagine it. I think it was during the Cute Kip era.
My commiserations to the bigger Angelina/TBP fans (Mal, B, Angelwings, Zino) of the board. Hopefully this will be somewhat of a blessing in disguise and she can go do her own thing now and still be brought back for TBP reunions every now and then.

I wasn't going to comment because I never really watched TNA until recentlly, but I did know of Angelina Love and The Beautiful People during their heyday, even without message boards and dirt sheets. So they obviously had a huge impression on the wrestling industry. I mean, anytime WWE gets jealous of TNA and poorly attempts to rip them off, you know you're doing something right.
But I decided to give my condolences for the sole reason that she was such a huge part in the creation of this site. Clearly without her, there would be no Beautiful Persons. So with that said, she will be missed, and there is a huge void left in the TNA Knockouts division that may never be filled.
Just be comforted by the fact that this was her decision, and as Malfunkshun said, there's nowhere to go but up. As long as she's happy with her decision, there's no reason to cry. She wouldn't want it that way. And without a doubt, that knockout door was left wide open in case she ever feels the itch to return.

It would be false of me and disloyal to Melina circa 2005 to weep over this, but I wish her luck and it's nice that she left on good terms.

I will miss Angelina but like Jayzero said at least this time she went out by choice. I wish her luck she can only move on to bigger and better things. She seems happy and that's good.
Still a shame she and Velvet never won the Knockout tag titles together. It's obvious those belts were made for them.

As a general question, do you think WWE will be interested in her? Unlike Gail Kim, I could actually see her being pretty over.

Thank you so much Malfunkshun for such a lovely thread highlighting Goddess Angelina's contributions. And thanks to all of you for your kind and constructive words and acknowledgement. The youtube B Fizzle posted is absolutely some of the top character and mic work I have seen. Things like that were what made me turn into Impact every week and even buy a few PPVs. You just had to see what the characters involved were going to do next. Even when they were given lackluster and outdated material like the Governor angle, the Angel and Velvel took it and ran with it. I laughed at their work in the barn scenes for example. Angelina and Velvet have such a special chemistry together as performers. So natural and not forced. It's too bad Angel and Vel never really got to be longterm buds again upon Love's return. I can't help but think a TNA merchandise and marketing opportunity passed by largely unfulfilled. They really were a cornerstone act. I hope Angel gets whatever else she wants in life. I will be looking foward to seeing her in tv shows and/or indy wrestling dvds. I'd love to see her renew her connection to WSU. The current hot act there consists of a three lady stable I think Angel would mesh classically with as opponents. Her real life freind Rain still laces it up once in a while there too. Here is a link to the swimsuit section of the Beautiful People 1st Annual Beauty Contests starring the devilicious Angelina. I know I have that on my comp and I think I will upload it when I get the chance. Strange I couldn't locate it on youtube atm.
