Billy Gunn has been fired from his role as an NXT trainer.

Monty "Kip" Sopp, better known as Billy Gunn, was fired today as a trainer by World Wrestling Entertainment.

Sopp was fired due to testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone in a powerlifting meet on July 25.

Sopp's drug test at the meet came up with a 37-1 testosterone/epitestosterone ratio, well over the 4-1 limit, and he was suspended from powerlifting for four years.

Sopp, 52, had returned to WWE as a trainer in 2012 after several years away from the organization. He worked as an agent and a trainer, as well as had a New Age Outlaws nostalgia run as a tag team, winning the tag team titles in early 2013.

He had done occasional run-ins at the end of some NXT shows with he and the babyfaces wrestlers ending shows doing DX crotch chops.

Most recently, he had appeared on television as one of the trainers on Tough Enough and Breaking Ground.

WWE officials were not aware of him competing as a powerlifter until a few weeks ago or his suspension from that sport.

WWE really needs to take a page from NXT's book in regards to the Divas. They've got like 3 different feuds going on at once, which has been nothing but beneficial for all the girls who are involved. Like I'm down for long matches, but it's okay to regulate some of that time to other Divas and start different feuds.

Bayley Talks Moving to the Main Roster, Crowd Reaction to Eva Marie & More


Coming off of a successful title defense against Eva Marie on last week's episode of NXT, Bayley was asked her thoughts on how the audience reacts to the Total Divas star:

"I think fans are like that all over the world. We're in the public eye and people are going to criticize no matter what and say what they want to say about us. If they want to boo Eva then that's great, she can have more to feed off. I don't know if it's a personal thing where they don't really respect her, but she's doing her job."

Bayley was also asked on how her role has changed in WWE since capturing the NXT Women's Championship in August:

"I've noticed a change in things like doing more interviews and more people wanting to talk to me because I'm the champion. I'm at the forefront of the NXT women's division and it's really humbling to think that I'm not just a part of this new era, but that I'm the leader of it."

"Even at the WWE Performance Center, I've noticed a lot of people coming to me for advice, and I take a leadership role now as the champion and as somebody who has been in the locker room the longest. It's a huge responsibility to work with these newer girls and try to help them, while also keeping the division strong and the same thing that the NXT fans fell in love with. It's a challenge and it's a lot of fun, so I'm very proud to be a part of it."

While Bayley is dominating the women's division in NXT, her fellow Four Horsewomen Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks are holding down the fort on the main roster. Bayley was asked her thoughts on joining them:

"I definitely want to be a part of it but I'm not in any rush right now. NXT is so huge and we're already doing something very special here, so if I was on the main roster right now I'd feel that I was missing out with what's going on in NXT.”

"We have Asuka, Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Carmella and all these girls who are just waiting to change the division even more than it already has. They're going to take it to a different level so selfishly I still want to be part of that."

"I'm glad I still get to be here and experience it with them but ultimately I want to join Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch in WWE. What they're doing right now is amazing and I know how much it means to them. I'm super proud of them and everything they're going through to change women's wrestling."

I don't know, Bayley already annoys me, but her whole spiel about being a humble locker room leader gave me AJ Lee teas, back when she was starting to get cocky and putting herself on a pedestal over the other girls in interviews.

I would say I could be wrong and that's not what Bayley was trying to do here, but y'all tried to tell me I was wrong when AJ first started doing it, too...

I never thought I'd see the day that Johnny Saint would appear on WWE TV, but it finally happened, and I'm so happy.

Asuka vs. Emma was a great opening match.

A lot of the NXT chants annoy me but I loved, "na na na, na na na na, na na na na, Big Cass", to the tune of Hey Jude.

Carmella must have a time traveling gimmick. She was just at ringside a minute ago and now she's "just arriving to the arena" with Bayley.

Holy shit. The Asuka/Emma match was absolutely insane. Like I didn't think it was possible for Emma, but she plays such a great heel. Her team up with Dana is perfection. Like these PPV matches with Asuka give me chills because like yeah she's won all of them so far, but both opponents still come out looking great. Like the ending to that match gave me chills and when she reversed Emma into the ankle lock. I'm just excited to see what her chemistry is like with the rest of the NXT Divas.

I loved that match too. Asuka is great and Emma has made a great comeback considering it wasn't long ago that I thought she was on the verge of being released.

I can never really get into the men's stuff in NXT though. I don't care about the likes of Finn Balor or Apollo Crews and Enzo Amore is the most annoying person I've ever seen on TV. Tyler Breeze was great but he got called up obviously.
