How amazing is it that this has gotten so big everywhere? Such a quality show too. Part of me is quite sad because seeing everyone go on about it on Twitter and everywhere else makes it seem a little less niche (not that it was ever niche to begin with, but still), but it deserves all of its success. The Dowager Countess is just amazing of course.

The only person I know that likes Downton Abbey is my mum. I've tried to watch it, but it was boring.
But then again, I don't really like period dramas. I did like Tess of the D'urbervilles though, I love Gemma Arterton though, so I may be biased.

I don't mind period dramas, but Downton seems different in that it seems a lot more aimed towards the general public on the whole. Being an ITV show doesn't hurt, I suppose. I wasn't hooked until episode three or so, but I wasn't really paying attention at the start.
