How amazing is it that this has gotten so big everywhere? Such a quality show too. Part of me is quite sad because seeing everyone go on about it on Twitter and everywhere else makes it seem a little less niche (not that it was ever niche to begin with, but still), but it deserves all of its success. The Dowager Countess is just amazing of course.  |

The only person I know that likes Downton Abbey is my mum. I've tried to watch it, but it was boring.
But then again, I don't really like period dramas. I did like Tess of the D'urbervilles though, I love Gemma Arterton though, so I may be biased.

I don't mind period dramas, but Downton seems different in that it seems a lot more aimed towards the general public on the whole. Being an ITV show doesn't hurt, I suppose. I wasn't hooked until episode three or so, but I wasn't really paying attention at the start.
