Lol, I was just about to post about this in the book thread since I remember you guys talking about it there.
I’m going to see it tomorrow. I’m not really sure what it’s about though. I wish I had read the book so I knew what to expect.

Everything was perfect, aside from Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, but even that wasn't bad. The scenes with Rue. omg. Definitely my favorite movie this year so far. They did such a great job adapting it to the big screen.

I liked how loyal they were to the books and the only details they changed or omitted were for the pace of the movie. It was a great adaptation. I thought Josh Hutcherson made a nice Peeta, but Katniss and Rue were definitely the best cast, and Foxface and Glimmer were exactly how I pictured them.

Lol, this was not what I was expecting at all. There was a huge poster up on the wall in the cinema saying it was "the new Twilight" and I felt myself dying inside. Thankfully it was way better than that. It reminded me a little of The Island (I think I was one of the few people who liked that movie btw) only with way better acting and way less Michael Bay/crazy stuff.
And this Jennifer Lawrence girl is going to become a huge star now, right?

Aw, so you liked it then? I was worried people who haven't read the books wouldn't get it, but my friend said she loved it.

So I really wanted to see the movie but I just haven't gotten the chance to yet. I turn on TMZ and within 30 seconds, not only is the movie ruined for me, but the 2nd and 3rd books as well. Thanks TMZ.

Just watched this. It was a'ight. From the way everyone was talking about it I thought I was either going to love it or hate it but it was a solid 7 for me. I'd watch it again.

I think movies like this are more for people who read the books, because you get to see the characters and the situations brought to life, and if you haven't read them you're missing out on so much underlying stuff. Like, in the movie they never really explain why the games are happening because it would be redundant for the characters to talk about for the sake of filling the audience in (they tried it with the garden scenes), where as in the book it's explained and you know that going into it. I just think all book based movies are better if you've read the books, i.e. Twilight. When I saw that I couldn't figure out why Edward looked like he shit his pants in class, then I read the book and realized it was because she smelled so good that he wanted to rip her throat out.

I doubt I'll ever get round to seeing this tbh. It doesn't look like my sort of movie. I'll probably give it a curiosity watch when it debuts on Sky Movies. I just think all book based movies are better if you've read the books, i.e. Twilight. When I saw that I couldn't figure out why Edward looked like he shit his pants in class, then I read the book and realized it was because she smelled so good that he wanted to rip her throat out. I don't think that's the best example. I think a lot of people realised that he wanted to just chomp on her neck then and there. I mean... I haven't seen Twilight

No they did a pretty good job of explaining what was going on and why it was happening. The rebellion and keeping everyone in line and all that. I got the gist of it from the titles at the beginning.
I liked the movie. It just wasn't omfg A-maze-ing to me, but it also wasn't god awful like some people are saying. It was just a fun movie.
I'm looking forward to part 2. And I'm interested in reading the book because I do think I'd enjoy it more, cause I always enjoy the books more than the movies.
I understand what you're saying though. I'm sure there are plenty of things I missed out on or things I would've got having read the books. It always bugged me on Harry Potter 4, when the camera zoomed in on the port key like it was some big deal, and everyone should already know what it is. When people who hadn't read the books were just staring at a fucking boot lol

You got: Effie Trinket!
Well, you’re certainly no shrinking violet, are you? You stand out in a crowded room and like the finer things in life. But despite your flamboyant nature you are one of the kindest and loving people out there and a dear friend. You may be surrounded by sorrow from time to time but you’ll always be upbeat, because you’re you. Keep on smiling.
