My two favourite shows of all time, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development, I didn’t get at first. I didn’t start watching Curb until it had already been on for like 6-7 years because Larry David looked like a boring old man and I didn’t realise how hilarious he was. And AD I got on DVD one Christmas, watched half an episode, barely laughed and turned it off. Then I gave it another chance a few months later, watched the whole series through and loved it. It’s not really the type of show you can just watch one standalone episode of and appreciate as much. Once you get to know the characters and understand all the hidden jokes it’s great though so I’m glad I went back and gave it another shot.
I’ve mentioned before that I never liked Friends. There was a time when it seemed like everyone watched this and I always felt like the odd one out.
I never liked Scrubs either even though everyone told me it was great. A while after all the hype died down I went back and watched some of it and appreciated it a little more but it still wasn’t something I would watch regularly.
Someone bought me a Futurama boxset years ago and despite trying many times, I’ve never been able to get into it all that much.
Anything like The Soprano’s, The Wire or any other critically acclaimed drama series I never cared for. I only watch comedy shows generally.

I never got South Park, Futurama and Family Guy. Especially FG...I just don't get the humour. I loved Simpsons before it went downhill though.
Also, Big Brother. I hated when everyone would obsess over it for months and I wouldn't have a clue. And I can generally get into all the tacky reality shows.

There's not a chance in hell that I'll ever get into Curb Your Enthusiasm or The Office.
I've watched a lot of Friends, and I've never liked it. I thought Joey was the funniest character, but then I saw his spin-off.
Every Power Rangers season after Time Force, except Ninja Storm & Dino Thunder. I tried watching Samurai because it's being made by Saban again, but it's just as bad as the Disney years.
At first I couldn't get into Ashes to Ashes, but midway through season 2 I was hooked. Then season 3 was perfection, with a brilliant ending.

Friends is my go-to show, mainly because it seems to be on every hour on E4 or Comedy Central or whatever channel it is now, and Virgin always has a season on On Demand. It gets a bit tiresome, but you're guaranteed at least five or six out loud laughs every episode.

I can't really think of a specific show that I tried to watch and couldn't get into, but this thread reminded me of one time when my oldest sister and I got into a terrible fight because she wanted to watch the finale of Sopranos and I wanted to order a wrestling PPV. I got my way, of course.

I agree with Big Brother and most reality shows.
There was also a period a few years ago when 24 and Lost were all anyone would ever talk about but I never cared about either of them.
Oh, and even though I heard Seinfeld was one of the greatest sitcoms ever, for the longest time I wasn't a fan at all. Eventually I came to appreciate it though and realised that the first two seasons and the last two seasons suck but the 5 seasons in the middle are greatness.

Lost - Granted I only gave it ten minutes, but between the fans and the previews it was awful. Grey's Anatomy - I wanted everyone on that show to be killed off. It has the least likeable characters ever.

You didn't like George? I loved Lost as well, although the last two seasons are still sitting in my conservatory unopened since September 2010.

I tried, I really did.

It's probably best you got out while you could. Everything kind of falls apart in season three due to the writer's strike. I left off at some point in the middle of season five, and I hate abandoning a series once I'm in so deep, but God damn.

My issue with Supernatural is that they should've just stuck to monster hunting, and then the show just turned into a giant angst-fest. I stopped watching with the intention of picking it up once the show's actually over. But from what I've seen, it's like the plots just going in circles.
Even though it got canceled, 'Are You There Chelsea, It's Me Vodka' was something I gave up on after the first episode. 'The New Girl' as well, everyone seems to love it, but I'm not in love with Zoey Deschanel like everyone else seems to be.

Yeah Supernatural was good at the start before they developed an actual story arch and just had them hunt a ghost every epi. Also Sam just got progressively more whiney. Did they ever kill him off?
New Girl is awful, but ZD I think is actually the best thing about it (not that I'm in love with her but still). It's everyone else that kills it, with that schmitt guy at the top of the list.
Oh and teen dramas are practically made for people like me, but One Tree Hill is a major no go.
