Carrey and Daniels to Get Dumb and Dumber Again?
The Farrelly brothers want to bring the real Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne back.
Peter and Bobby Farrelly have wrapped their Three Stooges film, and now they're gearing up to make another stooge tale, of a sort: a sequel to Dumb and Dumber that would star the original film's Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.
Deadline reports that the brothers have wanted to return to Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne for years. Sean Anders and John Morris will script the film. The pair also co-wrote Sex Drive (which Anders directed) and co-directed Adam Sandler's yet-to-be-released I Hate You Dad.
Carrey has reportedly talked about the sequel recently, when he was promoting Mr. Popper's Penguins. So he's at least not aghast at the idea. Still, one wonders how Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd will fit into the series.
Actually, one doesn't.
Boo. The Cable Guy is the only classic Jim Carrey movie I want to see a sequel to.

It's official. Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels have both signed on the dotted line.
I'm actually quite excited.

Carrey Exits Dumb and Dumber SequelOnly three months after New Line and Warner Bros. confirmed that Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels were set to return for the Dumb and Dumber sequel, it has now been reported that Carrey is off the project.
According to sources at ET Online, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated with the studios, which he felt were not enthusiastic enough about the project to move forward. This leaves the production up in the air.
Now that the fate of Dumb and Dumber 2 is currently unknown, Carrey fans will just have to wait for the actor's next appearance in New Line and Warners' The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. Weaksauce

Sucks that this is pretty much the end of it, however I'm glad Jim Carrey wanted it to be the best movie it could be, and if the crew couldn't be bothered to put any effort in, maybe it's a good thing that it won't see the light of day.
The last thing we wanted was another Dumb & Dumberer, right?

Jeff Daniels has insisted that the proposed Dumb and Dumber sequel will not be produced.
The project was thrown into doubt earlier this week when Jim Carrey dropped out of Dumb and Dumber To due to conflicts with New Line and Warner Bros.
Daniels – who played Harry Dunne in the original film – also weighed in when questioned by TMZ if Dumb and Dumber To could continue without Carrey.
"Are you going to get another Dumb and Dumber? It's on the internet – we're not doing it," Daniels answered.
He added: "It's all over the internet… [The movie's] not happening."
Carrey first spoke of his interest in revisiting Dumb and Dumber last summer when he was promoting the family-friendly movie Mr Popper's Penguins.
The proposed Dumb and Dumber To was to be set 18 years after the original and would have centered on how life had changed for Harry and Lloyd.
Well, that's the end of that then.

Dumb and Dumber 2 may still be on track with its two original stars.
The planned sequel looked to be axed when Jim Carrey dropped out due to conflicts with New Line and Warner Bros.
However, co-star Jeff Daniels has now reportedly stated that Carrey is still interested in the project, providing that the script is good enough.
"We almost were able to kinda get it done this year, but they're still working on the script," Daniels told WENN.
"Jim wants to do it, I want to do it, the Farrellys want to do it. We're all hoping that it'll come together early next year."
The Newsroom actor Daniels previously said that the comedy sequel will not happen if Carrey is not on board.
The original script for Dumb and Dumber 2 was to be set 18 years after the original and would have centered on how life had changed for Harry and Lloyd.

The Farrelly brothers return to UK cinema screens this week with their new take on slapstick icons The Three Stooges, but the duo are also hatching plans to bring back Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas for a Dumb & Dumber sequel.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Bobby Farrelly revealed that both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are on board for the comedy follow-up, and the movie will shoot once Daniels is clear of his Newsroom commitments. Farrelly also dropped a big plot hint about Lloyd and Harry's latest big screen adventure...
What's the current status of the Dumb and Dumber sequel? "It's definitely something we've been hoping for a long time. We always wanted to get the two original guys Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back together and see what they're up to. Now it's almost 20 years after the original and the other guys are in a point in their career where they had so much fun the first time that they're willing to do it. We will make this movie."
Are you still hoping to shoot next year? "We were hoping to shoot it very soon - this fall - but that didn't come to pass because of scheduling conflicts. Jeff has a successful TV show over here now so we have to work around that. We are planning on shooting it this coming spring and hopefully it will be out by next fall. That's the plan and that will be our next movie, we've already written the script. We're very anxious to get back in business with those two guys."
Are you able to give us any hints about the storyline? Have Lloyd and Harry had a lucky break yet after missing that bikini bus? "I can tell you that there is no growth out of either one of them and it's 20 years later. What is funny about the original is that they're grown men who are complete losers and when the studio came to us about a sequel, we were like, 'Loads of kids are losers and they're dumb.' We didn't see any value in the sequel so we backed out of it, but now these guys are in regular life and they're still basically children at heart.
"The story revolves around the fact that one of them may have sired a child. They want to go and find the child because he's having a kidney problem and he wants to ask him for one of his kidneys."
Is Dumb & Dumber the one movie you've done that people keep wanting to talk to you about? "The thing about Dumb & Dumber here in the States, I don't about over there, but here it ran an awful lot on television. They've seen it not tens of times but hundreds [of] times, because it ran a lot. They know all the lines, and they know the story inside and out. It's one of those that if you're flicking through the TV channels and you come across it, you'll watch it for a while. It's definitely our most popular and most familiar [film]. We're very anxious to make another one."

Dumb and Dumber To has been announced as the official title of the Farrelly Brothers' movie sequel.
The directors confirmed the rumoured film name on Twitter.
"You also might be interested to know that we are almost done with the Dumb and Dumber To (sic) script," they wrote. "I think you're going to like it."
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are both reported to be on board to reprise their roles in the follow-up to the 1994 comedy.
The sequel centres around one of the duo seeking out their long-lost child for a kidney transplant.
Dumb and Dumber To is scheduled to begin shooting in spring 2013, working around Daniels's commitment to HBO drama The Newsroom.
The 2003 prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd was made without the involvement of the Farrellys or the original stars.

That title is so dumb it genius. I can't wait for this movie. It's the one reason (well maybe along with GTA V) that I don't want the world to end in 3 months.

Same here.
I loved every song on their first album, so I was prepared to be disappointed by this one, because every other band I like has let me down with their follow up album, but I shouldn't have worried.
I've learnt not to doubt the Empire.
