I'm finding it hard to get excited for Civil War, even though the reviews and fan response has been great, because these are the same people who hated Batman v. Superman. How can I trust that this will be any good if they were so wrong about Dawn of Justice?

Yeah, I think Batman v Superman killed it for me as well. I just don't see how it'll possibly be able to compare, and I'm much more excited for Apocalypse. I'm only in it for Scarlet Witch.

It may just be because this had the misfortune of coming out between Batman v Superman, which I obviously ended up really enjoying, and X-Men, which I was always looking forward to the most, but I didn't care for this. Spider-Man, Black Panther and Ant-Man were cool, and Scarlet Witch didn't disappoint at all in the handful of instances they let her use her powers, but the plot and overall tone of the movie were so dull. I was hoping it would end when there was still another half hour left. There was so much man-pain, and after Arrow, I've had enough of that to last me a lifetime. And I think the only reason I feel let down by Scarlet Witch is because during the big fight scene where she only got two moments, all I could think about was when Wonder Woman debuted and went balls to the wall kicking Doomsday's ass, whereas here it was so obvious they weren't showing Scarlet Witch so she wouldn't show up the men. But there was a lot of emphasis on her and Vision so who knows, maybe she'll get her own movie and they can introduce Wiccan and Speed? But I doubt it, considering Doctor Strange is getting a movie before Black Widow.
I don't know, in this film universe where there are only four heroines, all of which are white women and only one has actual superpowers, it just makes me look forward to Apocalypse so Jean, Storm, Psylocke and Mystique (as overexposed as she is) can slay my gussy.

This is such a bummer, but I'm glad at the same time. I can go into Civil War with low expectations.

Disney getting her karma for paying critics to throw Batman v Superman under the bus and for cock blocking Apocalypse from IMAX.

I just read that they've got nine more films scheduled from now through 2019. I think I'm over it.

I actually ended up loving Civil War. Paul Rudd/Antman was the highlight for me, which is funny because I had no desire to watch Antman before but I'm gonna check it out now. I hated that I loved Spiderman. Like I'm still salty that we're getting another Peter Parker, but I did enjoy Marisa Tomei and Tom Holland. Hopefully it'll open the door to more characters in that universe (Spiderwoman, Silk, MILES MORALES).
And while Black Widow isn't my favorite heroine, I'm still baffled that she doesn't have her own movie.

They were stupid to market it as Captain America, because for those not in the know, they wouldn't have known it was actually much more than that. They should have released it as an Avengers movie, it might have caught the eye of more people then.
Although, a lot of people may have figured out that the only reason Captain America and Iron Man were squaring off was because they were trying to outdo Batman v. Superman. To be honest though, who watched The Avengers movie and thought, "Wow, I wonder who would win in a fight; Captain America or Iron Man?" whilst people have been debating Batman vs. Superman since forever.

Hopefully it'll open the door to more characters in that universe (Spiderwoman, Silk, MILES MORALES). I heard that Sony are producing a Venom movie, so it looks like they still have the rights to a lot of supporting characters in the Spiderverse. Hopefully they don't, because I need a movie starring Miles, and now that you've mentioned it, I'd love a movie based on Spider-Woman, Silk, AND Spider-Gwen.

Although, a lot of people may have figured out that the only reason Captain America and Iron Man were squaring off was because they were trying to outdo Batman v. Superman. I thought of this while I was watching it and imo it showed. I just thought the storytelling was very thrown together and poor, and escalated for no real reason. First of all, I couldn't find a single reason why any of them would have a problem registering. They all already worked for SHIELD anyways, and one of the main reasons it was an issue in the comics was because mutants like the X-Men would have to register, but there are no mutants in this film universe. There was no reason any of them shouldn't want to sign. I also chuckled when the secretary of defense or whoever looked around the table at them and said that they were all super-enhanced individuals who acted without authority, when that literally only applied to two people at the table: Scarlet Witch and Vision. It just really took me out of the movie, and the main plot point, with Iron Man being upset that Cap is a better friend to Bucky than him. It was so juvenile and I didn't care about that entire final act between the three of them and wanted it to end. And yeah, Spider-Man and Ant-Man were funny, but it's like even Burke has pointed out. We get it. These movies are funny. What else ya got? The formula is just so commercial at this point. Batman v Superman had artistry to it, and the X-Men films border on real-life issues and make a statement in that regard. Instead of pumping these films out faster than the Duggars, Marvel should really try to do something a little more innovative, because I found Civil War very boring.

I ended up watching Ant Man. Weirdly enough there wasn't enough Paul Rudd. Overall I liked it, mostly because it was different from the rest of the MCU movies (it was essentially a heist movie), but that's all it had going for it. Though it really went out of it's way to tie into Civil War. Like I think the last half of the movie takes place during the events of Civil War.
In regards to the MCU, I think they just need to do something different. They've followed the same formula since Iron Man and I understand why, because it's brought them success. But I think they just need to sit back and ask themselves, do we really need Thor 3 or good lord another Iron Man? Guardians of the Galaxy is a good example of trying something new and it being a success. But I still find it interesting that they're entering 'phase 3' and they've yet to have a movie with a female lead (not counting their shows no one watches on ABC). And the worst part is, they've got Black Widow right there, a well established character (ignoring Age of Ultron). Like it really is mind boggling to me because Disney has had success with it. Not even just with their princess movies, but Star Wars. The main character was female AND A JEDI and it was a huge success. There's literally no reason for there not to be one.
