2011 MTV VMA Nominations

[Burke]

Katy Perry leads the field for the 28th MTV Video Music Awards, landing nine nominations including Video of the Year for "Firework." Adele and Kanye West follow with seven nominations. Bruno Mars and Beyonce each got four noms, with Eminem, Lady Gaga, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Nicki Minaj all scoring three.

The full nominees are below. The show takes place August 28th at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

Okay, the bit with Gaga presenting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to Britney, the Britney tribute performance, the two of them introducing Beyoncé together, Beyoncé's performance and then announcing that she's pregnant were the best parts of the show.

MTV need they asses beat for not having Naya Rivera perform Valerie for the Amy Winehouse tribute though. Bruno Mars? Really? Everyone knows that Amy songs are Santana's thing.

I don't know why I watch these. I'm always like "who is that?" On the plus side I recognized Brian May, wooo.

- Cloris Leachman is a mess. I don't even think it's only because she's super old.
- Britney looked really uncomfortable standing that close to Gaga.
- I keep trying to like Gaga, but it's not happening.
- The Beastie Boys impersonation was really stupid and not in a good way.
- I like Adele. I might even like her a lot. I need to get some of her music.
- Lil Wayne is a creepy looking fucker.
- Drake shouldn't have rocked the Crosby sweater.
- Kanye and Jay Z were great. Loved the Bruce Springsteen vibe with Kanye's attire.
- Katy Perry needs to leave the hats to Gaga.
- When did Lady Gaga become Andrew Dice Clay?
- The Beyonce moment was so cute.
- The lead singer of Young the Giant is way cute.
- Why didn't Tony Bennet do Valerie? Huh? Why, MTV, why?
- Half of the show was bleeped so I did a lot of filling in the blanks.
