Moby has revealed that he does not consider songs by the likes of Britney Spears and Ke$ha to be music.
According to Spinner, the singer-songwriter enjoys the popstars' recorded output, but believes that they should not be labelled "music".
"It's fun, but I don't think of it as music," Moby said. "It's manufactured. I appreciate it as a pop culture phenomenon and some of the songs I like if I hear them in a shopping mall or something, but it doesn't function as music for me."
The 45-year-old went on to describe what he considers to be true music.
"Music is something that communicates emotion and integrity in a really interesting, direct way," Moby said. "And when I listen to the pop music you're describing, it's hyper-produced corporate product. That isn't really even a criticism, but I just think calling it music is a misnomer."
The musician, who collaborated with Spears on her 2003 album In The Zone. recently described her as "broken", claiming that the singer's damaged nature is in fact part of her appeal.
Moby has previously suggested that Spears's breakdown was the result of her rise to fame at such an early age.
Spears recently released her seventh studio album Femme Fatale. She will go on tour this summer with Nicki Minaj.
I really hate bitter old people.

I'm gonna be real honest here... I haven't got a clue who Moby is.

Don't blame you. He's about as relevant as Kevin Federline these days. I know him from Eminem mocking him in one of his videos years ago.

I hate the music he puts out and honestly don't consider it music either. However, I don't think he's wrong or really insulting her. She does has some issues and that is the most appealing part about her. She would be boring otherwise. I wouldn't go as far as not calling it music, but there is really very little artistic credibility in that type of music. Which is fine, it has always been that way. It's fun and you can dance to it, that's all that matters.

Britney & Ke$ha's hyper-produced corporate product > Moby's music.

I literally couldn’t tell you the name of a Moby song. I don't think I even need to listen to any of his stuff to know that I'd hate it though.

The only one I can think of is the one with Gwen Stefani.

Which itself is a terrible song except for Gwen's part. He just talks the whole time.

Nope, not even Matt Damon saved that song for me. I'll stay right where I am on the Moby front.
