After the American version of The X Factor debuted to disappointing ratings, the UK version is also having lower ratings than expected, a little under two million less than last year.
The show earned only 10.4 million viewers on Saturday, which is below last year's premiere of 12.2 million.
Viewer complaints included the fact the show ran for two and a half hours, had too many commercial breaks and the format was different. The results show also lost viewers, as it earned 11.87 million compared to last year's 13.1 million.
I (and many others apparently!) refuse to watch a Simon Cowell-less X-Factor.

I didn't even realize you watched it when Simon was there.
Really though, the panel is a billion times better without Cole/Cowell, even if Gary was annoying on Saturday.

Nobody I know watches X-Factor over here, even with Simon. Everyone thought it was going to be the American Idol killer but instead everyone just calls it the American Idol ripoff.
Plus, AI has J-Lo. J-Lo trumps all.

Simon was the only one who told it like it was.
If someone sucked the others would dance around the issue most of the time and try and be nice about it. I like how he would just flat out tell them straight "You can't sing. You have no future in the music business. Sorry."

Gary is a lot more brutal than Simon.

I like how he would just flat out tell them straight "You can't sing. You have no future in the music business. Sorry." Simon stopped telling it like it is about five years ago though. Last year was a mess because he kept saving Cheryl's weaker acts in spite of the fact that they couldn't sing. I agree that Gary is way harsher than Simon has been in the past half-decade, and Kelly's criticism is more on point. Tulisa comes from the Dannii school of open with a compliment, tell them what was bad and then tell them how to make it better, which still beats anything Simon said.

"In an exclusive interview with The People, the senior Frankie said of his 18-year-old son: “I don’t think he has slept with more than 100 girls. I think he is on number 67. I’d say my number is 30 or 40 but it might be more.”
The X Factor hopeful said he lost his virginity when he was 12. And his dad revealed he used to have one-night stands to bed a *different girl every night.
...
Frankie Snr said: “He was gutted about Amelia getting kicked out and sent home.
“She was a good friend of his. It was horrible on Sunday. He’s not heartbroken and he had said to her from day one he didn’t want a relationship.
“They’d had a kiss and a *cuddle. He has been good and looking forward to the *competition going forward."If I had a dad like that I'd have run away years ago.

I find it hilarious when the finalists come out to mime the group song with obviously auto-tuned voices.

Frankie and Janet were awful. Marcus and Kitty were brilliant. Everyone else was mediocre.
Kelly Rowland is awful. Bring back Dannii.

I liked Janet. It was just hard to watch, especially after she lost the words. Misha is AMAZING. Kitty is usually AMAZING, but she wasn't exactly on point this week for me. Marcus was great. The Risk were too. I love Little Mix. Johnny is great, but yeah. Frankie can go do one. Judge wise, Louis is my favourite, but I'm still impressed by Tulisa, bully-gate aside. She's very Dannii in her critique. Kelly grates, but she has her moments. It's Gary who's been bothering me. I say they should have an all female (and Louis) panel.

Johnny was one of my favourites but it was definitely his time to go. The Risk and Kitty should not have been in the bottom 3, and The Risk definitely should not have gone home.
Frankie only survived because Louis from One Direction told the thousands of teenage girls desperate to fuck him, to vote for Frankie. It's disgusting that he's still in the show after saying multiple times that he shouldn't be there.
You think you shouldn't be there, Frankie? Then be a man and quit.

I watched this show earlier with a group of people who are huge fans. I did my best to appear interested but it really is unbearable to me unless the judges are arguing or there’s some hilariously awful singer. When it’s just regular people singing competently I have no interest.

Didn't you just love Little Mix doing En Vogue though? Shivers.
