I'm watching this show on Animal Planet that just reminded me of an eerie real-life experience worthy of the Creepy Post. When I was in high school I spent the weekend with my cousin at her Dad's house in the country. He lived out in the middle of nowhere and his house was on dozens of acres of land. It was past midnight and we were all watching scary movies on TV when he asked if we wanted to go for a ride on the four wheeler. He was the type who would try to scare us, so we were skeptical at first, but we thought it'd be fun. He rode us out to the pond and then he came to a stop and pulled the keys from the ignition. We asked him what was up and he said he had to pee and that he would be right back. He went into the woods and we just sat there, waiting for him to jump out and scare us. I was sitting on the back of the four wheeler and as we sat there talking, I noticed something gleaming out of the corner of my eye. I turned around and very clearly, I saw two eyes shining in the moonlight, close to the ground in the bushes near the woods. Whatever it was, it was big. I thought it was one of their cows at first, but the eyes weren't positioned like that, they were side by side and looking in the same direction, right at us. At that moment I noticed that my friend wasn't saying anything either, and that's when things got creepy. I told myself I would just ignore it, as if not acknowledging it meant it wasn't happening, but then she whispered to me "Do you see that?". We're sitting there, in the middle of nowhere, her Dad had wandered off into the woods and taken the keys with him, it was a straight up horror movie scene waiting to happen. Just before we both jumped off the four wheeler and ran screaming into the night, her Dad came out of the woods and got back on the four wheeler. When we tried to tell him what we saw, there was nothing there. I probably would have just chalked the whole thing up to my imagination if she hadn't seen it too. To this day I don't know what was out there. Her Dad thought it was most likely a bobcat or a cougar or something. But I'll never forget those eyes. The way it was so low to the ground, and it's head was moving side to side. It was like it was studying us. I still get chills thinking about it. EDIT: Just saw this on Wikipedia. OMG!  |
