You remember, right? The creature that "predicted" all the World Cup results this summer? No? Well me neither, but this is bizarrely getting a lot of media attention for some reason.
At least it's taken that other creature Wayne Rooney out of the sports news for a day though, so God bless him and RIP.

Was Paul really the coolest name they could come up with for a psychic octopus?

As far as pyschic octopusses go, I hear he was one of the more modest. He probably didn't want anything too grandiose. His work should speak for itself tbh.

Maybe they forgot that Ringo wrote "Octopus's Garden"?

His last prediction was that England would win the right to host 2018. let's see if he's right.

His last prediction was that England would win the right to host 2018. let's see if he's right. I think he’ll end up being correct with that one. I’m still gutted that the touted joint British bid fell through though. At this point, being hosts or co-hosts is the only way I can see Scotland qualifying for a World Cup in the foreseeable future.

Plus all the money it would give you for development. I don't see why we don't all share it tbh. Plenty of games to go around. If we do get it though, Leeds is gonna get so much money we may even end up above the breadline

I imagine it would be a bitter bidding process between them all to land one of the 7/8 spots that are available. Scotland pretty much would only have 3 that would live up to FIFA’s criteria with Ibrox, Hampden and Parkhead, and they’re all within a 5 mile radius of each other which I don’t think is ideal. Pittodrie could be used as an alternative, but you can hardly ask world class footballers to step foot in Aberdeen. I’m still stunned that Glasgow won the rights to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games tbh. I hope those poor athletes pack their bulletproof vests.

Well, the stadia not up to FIFA standards stuff surprisingly wouldn't matter, I mean, Bristol and Plymouth have been selected ffs! The FA is even gonna give money to Leeds to do up Elland Road and expand it to 50k capacity. They're throwing money at any city that one the rights to host
