Oh yeah, about that... TVLine reports that Hulu has ended talks to acquire Community, which was canceled by NBC last month after five seasons.
The service was reportedly the only viable candidate for the series. Sony Pictures Television, however, is still working to find a new home for the series before the actors' deals expire on June 30.
A source said: "Sony does not give up easily. A lot can happen in one week."

Honestly and I know its due to alot of offscreen drama and Pierce and Troy leaving but it might actually be best just to leave Community concelled, the last 2 seasons were no where near as good as the first 3.

Hopefully Yahoo have less strings attached than NBC and the show can return to the glory days of the first 3 seasons.

Yvette Nicole Brown Departs Community
Shirley, Community fans are going to be disappointed with this news. But alas, it's true: Yvette Nicole Brown is departing the fan favorite comedy after five seasons. Brown — who has played Shirley Bennett since the 2009 launch of Community — confirms to TV Guide Magazine that she has asked to be released from her contract for personal reasons. Sony Pictures TV and executive producers Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna have honored her request. The actress says the change was necessary in order to take care of her ailing father. "My dad needs daily care and he needs me," Brown says. "The idea of being away 16 hours a day for five months, I couldn't do it. It was a difficult decision for me to make, but I had to choose my dad." That means Brown won't be a part of the group that makes the transition from NBC to Yahoo! Screen for Season 6. "Yvette was an integral part of Community and is irreplaceable. We are sad to see her go and wish her the very best," Harmon and McKenna said in a joint statement. Brown says Harmon "has been so wonderful about it all. He told me, 'Yvette, I'm praying for your dad.'" The actress also thanked Sony for allowing her to take a recurring role on CBS' midseason reboot of The Odd Couple. That show is a multi-camera sitcom, which comes with a more flexible schedule than a single-camera half-hour like Community. "A multi-camera sitcom is a better fit for the life I have now," she says. "I can't say enough how much I respect Sony and Dan for how they handled this profound change in my life." As for Shirley, it's unclear yet how her departure will be addressed. Brown leaves on solid terms and has left the door open for the possibility of making a guest appearance. "I am totally open to whatever Dan decides," she says. "I'm glad it won't be hard for them to explain where she is. She has three kids, a degree and a business. There are a lot of ways to explain her [departure]." With the exit of Brown and Jonathan Banks (who's committed to AMC's Better Call Saul), the producers are now casting for two new characters. One is described as a woman who's brought in as a consultant to help shape up the school. The other is a retired salesman who comes to Greendale to reinvent himself.
I've become numb to these announcements...

'Community' adds Paget Brewster & Keith David to season 6 cast With production on "Community" season 6 beginning next week, the comedy is adding two actors to the cast: Paget Brewster and Keith David. The series was already without original regulars Donald Glover and Chevy Chase by the end of last season, and Yvette Nicole Brown had to leave to care for her ill father. Plus, Jonathan Banks and John Oliver, who were significant parts of season 5, are busy with other jobs ("Better Call Saul" and "Last Week Tonight," respectively) and aren't likely to be back. Even with the return of Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong, the world of Greendale was getting awfully under-populated. Now the show's added two comedy veterans — one of whom has already been on the show in another role. Brewster (who, before her stint on "Criminal Minds," was a regular on a whole bunch of sitcoms, albeit most of them short-lived) appeared briefly in season 5's "Analysis of Cork-Based Networking" as Greendale's IT chief. Now she'll have a new role — though I'm assuming Abed will notice the resemblance to the previous one — as Francesca "Frankie" Dart, a consultant hired to help shape up the school. David — late of the great "Enlisted," which new "Community" home Yahoo briefly explored picking up ("Enlisted" creator Kevin Biegel, is consulting on this season) — will play Elroy Patashnik, a retired scientist who comes to Greendale to reinvent himself. (UPDATE: Forgot to mention that David also narrated the Ken Burns parody in "Pillows and Blankets.") Though at one point there was talk of this sixth season premiering sometime in the fall, production won't even begin until November 17, and Yahoo now says to expect the 13-episode season sometime in early 2015.
Cool I guess, but at this point anyone added to the show will just feel like guest stars instead of cast members. Sad about Jonathan Banks not returning cause he was really funny last season, especially during the floor is hot lava episode. Why the hell can't John Oliver return tho? Last Week Tonight just ended for the rest of the year last night. He's completely free.

If you're going to keep trying to be me, you're going to have to change your name to WolfZero and do the full Damien Mizdow gimmick.

Pierce might have a small role in season 6 after all. Chevy Chase has revealed that he will be back on Community for its Yahoo! Screen-airing sixth season. Chase, who had a now-infamous public dispute with the show’s creator and showrunner Dan Harmon, did a Reddit AMA yesterday and when asked said that Pierce Hawthorne would briefly appear with more potential appearances after.
“I will be in a small cameo at the beginning… and if they ask me to come back and do one or two [more] appearances, it’s a possibility,” Chase wrote.
It is important to note that TV Line spoke with a Sony Pictures TV rep who said that Chase “is not confirmed to appear in Season 6 at this time.” One would assume that this means the contract is still being worked out, or perhaps that Chase blowing a bit of smoke.
When asked about coming back for more than a couple of appearances he said, “I feel like I’ve been there and done that? And the show probably has a different shape, feel, and is going on its own good merits.”
Chase also noted in the AMA that he would most like to guest star on Game of Thrones and that his experience on Community was “very taxing, because we didn’t get to move around a lot, and we would work 15, 16 hours a day sometimes, and right into early Sunday morning. So it was not easy work. I can tell ya. It’s tough to cover 8 people around a table without moving the camera, moving the camera, moving the lights, it takes FOREVER, and you have to do it over, and over, and make it look fresh, so if people realized that – it can be very taxing and very tough work.”
