Producers Martin Bregma and Marc Shmuger are looking for a writer to launch a new Scarface film. It was originally directed by Howard Hawks in 1932 and followed a gangster's rise to power. Brian De Palma directed the 1983 version with Al Pacino in the lead. They want the new version to be modern day and stay clear of any remake elements aside from the title and the central premise.
Why??? I can already picture someone like Justin Timberlake being cast in the title role.

I can't picture anyone other than Al Pacino as Tony Montana tbh.
Also, Scarface joins The Crow and They Live as one of the movies that doesn't need to be messed with, but Hollywood insists on doing so.

I don't have a problem with it. The Al Pacino version was a remake, and that turned out good.

Scarface, The Crazies and The Thing are the only remakes I ever enjoyed more than the original.
I really hope they don't do Scarface again though. I wish there was a rule where you couldn’t remake a movie until like 50 years after it was out.
I remember hearing a rumour a couple years ago about The Warriors being remade only with the setting being Los Angeles instead of New York like in the original. I was so glad when that didn’t come to pass.
