No offence, but have you guys ever seen a Disney movie before? What did you expect? Within its genre Frozen is great. I preferred Tangled but Frozen had better songs. Funny story, I have seen a Disney movie before. Grew up on them in fact. Been watching them since before either of you two were even alive.

The concept was nice but the execution was awful. The characters (besides Elsa) were shallow, the jokes were unintelligent and so in your face easy it was insulting, even for a kids movie. Way below Disney's past quality. I felt like I was watching Shrek with all that slapstick, and not even one of the good ones.
The music was god awful. Let It Go (again, Elsa) was the one and only song in that entire movie (of which there had to be at least 20 cause those people never stopped singing) that had any source of depth, meaning, or memorability to it. The rest were so god damn trifling, and the lyrics sounded like they were written by Taylor Swift. But at least Taylor makes catchy choruses.
I get that they were more trying to progress the story with the songs rather than having nice musical numbers like the good Disney movies, but it just didn't work. Sweeney Todd is another musical that did this, but the story was engrossing and the characters were compelling. They weren't singing about stuffing chocolates in their face (which could've been cute if it wasn't completely out of nowhere and had literally nothing to do with the song at all) or feeling gassy. The songs were annoying, too frequent, not memorable in the least, and the lyrics were shit. There was barely any spoken dialogue at all in this movie, but the little bit it had wasn't very good either.
Also, the way it kept going after Anna for falling in love with a guy she just met, an obvious jab at the Disney princesses, made it feel more like a parody that anything. IMO they blew what could've been an awesome story by filling it with awful songs, bad jokes, and annoying characters. This shit was on Dispicable Me levels of "Bright colors, funny comedy, cute characters, you love this movie! Minions! Snowmen! Ahhh!"
I respect that you guys may have liked it, good for you, have fun with it. But don't sit there and ask "Have ever seen a Disney movie before?" or tell me "...it's a musical" like I'm too stupid to get that. I love Disney musicals. Still watch them to this day. The good ones. Sing the songs a lot. But I didn't like this movie. The overhype for this is astounding. People were acting like it was the greatest Disney movie ever made. I just didn't see it. Sorry.
Is it still odd to you that I didn't like a movie?

Now I feel bad for not watching the movie so I can help instigate this.

I'm bitter that my hilarious Frozen joke got completely no-sold in all of this.

Frozen was okay. I liked when the pack of wolves killed and then ate that annoying guy.

The concept was nice but the execution was awful This is pretty much how I felt. I thought it was cute, but in terms of story I felt like it didn't have nearly as much depth as something like 'Tangled'. But my biggest issue for me was how over hyped it was. Everyone I know raved about the movie, and told me how amazing and progressive it was. I think what bother's me most is when people were talking about it being progressive. Like Elsa not needing a prince, or how there was a gay family in the movie, or it taking it jabs at the other Disney princess movies about falling in love and getting married in a day. I'm sorry, but does anyone remember the movie 'Enchanted'? If I recall that was something that was constantly made fun of. What about 'Brave' if I recall Merida didn't need a man to save her or her mother, she did it all herself. 'Mulan'? And the thing about it having a gay family still irritates me. If it's so progressive that it showed a gay family, then why weren't they on screen for longer than a blink of an eye? I'm sorry, Disney's sitcom 'Good Luck Charlie' stole that accomplishment when they featured a family with two mom's. People act like this movie broke down walls, but imo it just really wasn't that good. Obviously I know none of you were talking about the progressive thing, but all my friends kept trying to argue that point with me, and it seriously gets on my nerves. However, I will say, visually it was amazing.

'Divergent'
I went in thinking this was a Hunger Games knockoff, but I was pleasantly surprised (mind you, I haven't read the book). It was actually pretty good and I hope it does well enough to warrant a sequel. It's got a few similarities to THG, but that's such a broad statement to use I think, as the main similarity is that they both take place in a world where their previous society was destroy because of war and now the government is going all '1984' on them. The protagonist definitely differs from Katniss, she's a lot softer around the edges. And I thought the whole faction thing within their society was intriguing, but it made sense as to why it was instilled within their government.
It's kind of a slow burn, but it picks up after the first 1/4th of the movie. I'll definitely be picking the book up.

Empire State.
It was kinda misleading because it said STARRING Dwayne Johnson and Emma Roberts but Emma is barely in it at all and even Rocky is only like the third most important character.
Anyway, it was really boring. It was one of those movies that I came really close to turning off before it ended and I hardly ever do that.

RE: Frozen
I still hate this song, but I had no idea Kristen Bell really sang her songs, let alone every single age of her character, without voice effects. This is more impressive than Adele Dazeem singing Let It Go everywhere:

Under the Skin.
I only wanted to see it because it was set in Glasgow and Scarlett Johansson was in it. It was really weird but I found it interesting.

Divergent.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't exactly love it either, to be honest.

Spring Breakers.
When this first came out the advertisements made it seem like a crappy American Pie rip-off comedy and umm, it's not. It was pretty messed up. I liked it though. I'll never listen to Everytime by Britney Spears the same way again.
And Jeff Jarrett as the preacher guy in the beginning was so random.
