Well I mean, I didn't know I lived next to a power ranger. Hell, I didn't even know he was a power ranger until this. I just thought he was the bad guy in Samurai. But on the subject of this, people are acting like he just went and murdered somebody. It says they were fighting, he retreated, and the other guy busted into his room. So I mean, it's not like the victim was completely innocent in this. If this were still the wild west, the saloon music woulda kicked back in as the roommate fell to the floor. All I'm sayin'.

It's more entertaining to think he suited up and got too into character and killed the baddie/roommate. Until I get definitive proof to the contrary that is what I'm believing.

Just seen the Red Time Force Ranger on the news defending him saying it was self defense, which is what Dekker is claiming. I mean, the guy did call the cops himself. I mean, he stabbed his roommate with a fucking sword, but.... I can't say I haven't almost been there myself.
... recently.

... Anyways.
The saddest part about all this is that he still had a roommate at 36. I mean I knew Saban practically paid the Rangers in peanuts, but damn.

Even if it was self defence, he still stabbed and killed a guy with a katana, he deserves to go to jail for that.

No shit. He killed a guy. Who's arguing that he shouldn't go to jail? All I'm saying is people keep throwing murder around like he's OJ Simpson or something. Murder is pre-determined. This happened in the heat of the moment. It's manslaughter. Which I know sounds worse, but actually isn't, strangely.

My post wasn't a reply to anyone here, it was a general reply to Power Rangers actors and fans who seem to think he should get away with it. It's manslaughter. Which I know sounds worse, but actually isn't, strangely. I think it's more likely to be classed as second-degree murder than manslaughter. It'd be manslaughter if it was an accident, but he most likely knew that stabbing somebody with a katana would kill them, which would make this a second-degree murder case.

Second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter are almost exactly the same, but are determined by the situation, and cause of the situation. So that will be decided by the judge and jury after hearing his side of the story, the girlfriend's testimony, and other people who could know of how the incident came about.
2nd-degree murder is when an unstable person kills someone without planning it. Voluntary manslaughter is when a situation causes a normally stable person to become unstable and kill someone without planning it.
We don't know the full story, and might not ever know it, but from what we've heard so far, I'm leaning towards manslaughter.

And this is a pretty huge distinction to make cause it determines whether he gets 10-20 years or life without parole.

My post wasn't a reply to anyone here, it was a general reply to Power Rangers actors and fans who seem to think he should get away with it. I've been seeing a lot of questionable posts too where people seem to think him stabbing someone in the stomach with a katana will magically go away as long as it was in self defense. Unless the guy had a gun or a knife ( which we don't know), there was no need for that kind of force. One person even said the worst part of all this is regardless of whether or not it was in self defense, he wont be able to do attend cons anymore.

Finally, someone weighing in with some sense and decency.
