I’m sure we’ve all done this throughout the years. What were their opinions of it? Did they like any of the wrestlers? Did they make any funny comments, etc?
When Channel 5 first started showing WCW here I was watching it in my Grandpa’s house. There was a match with I think Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage and my Grandpa was like, “now this is real wrestling, not like that other stuff you watch.” Hogan and Savage were old as fuck by this point but he still liked it better because usually if he saw me watching wrestling it was WWF and there would be Divas running around naked or DX telling people to suck it.
Another time I was watching RAW with one of my friends who didn’t usually watch and I remember there was a match between Stone Cold and Spike Dudley. He couldn’t stop ripping on how pale and skinny Spike was and how it was so fake that he could put up a fight against anyone.
If my Dad happened to be in the room while I was watching wrestling he always commented on everything. He thought Kurt Angle was hilarious. He liked The Rock, Triple H and Undertaker too. And if Chris Benoit came on he would always say, “look, it’s the guy with no neck.” EDIT: Oh yeah, he loved Vince McMahon too and hated Stephanie's screechy voice.

My grandma used to watch it with me occasionally when I was younger. She was pretty into Kevin Nash. She would only refer to him as Big Sexy. She would refer to Kidman as her boyfriend. When Mysterio was wrestling with his mask she came in and asked why "that girl is topless." From then on she referred to Mysterio as "that little girl." She was also really into The Rock and called Triple "that ugly guy with a big nose."
I hate when people walk in on awkward moments. Like my aunt walked in while Shawn Michaels was doing a drug test and then threw the urine on Vince.
I was dating this guy that absolutely hated wrestling, but he would drag me to baseball games so I made him watch it. We went to a live show once and he almost got into a fight with another guy, because he was getting annoyed with the guy yelling in his ear for Cena to go die. It was pretty bad that the most embarrassing part of going to see wrestling live was my boyfriend.

One time when my oldest sister was home from college she was in the living room when my mom and I were watching Raw, and it just so happened to be the night Trish and Terri had their wet t-shirt contest that Jazz interrupted, and my sister could not believe my mom was letting me watch that - let alone that she was watching it with me, lol. Around that same time there was a tornado and my entire family had to post-up in the hallway until it was over, and I had my lil Raw Magazine, and it had this countdown of the greatest Divas ever and there was a pic of Sable in lingerie and that same sister thought I was looking at porn.
I was dating this guy for a while a couple of years ago and I would watch Raw when I was over at his apartment. Nothing too embarrassing ever happened, but it was when Eve and Kaitlyn were feuding and I was disappointed because I wanted him to see how cool the Divas could be and why I was into it, and that was not it. Also he could never remember Ryback's name and only referred to him as "Feed me more."
This one doesn't necessarily count, but my friend is a lesbian and I turned on Total Divas once while she was over and she immediately fell in love with Naomi and Nikki.

I think I posted it about it here, but three of my friends would come over Monday nights to watch Teen Wolf and I'd always be watching Raw before it came on. But I recall my two girlfriends LOVED Naomi and Cameron, they couldn't get over how beautiful they were and how Naomi had an amazing ass. And when Cameron and Naomi had that legit brawl, they were here for it, all the while casting themselves as each of the funkadactlys because each girl matched their skin tone. I think it was just nice for them to see representation. They also really liked Paige and Emma as well, mainly because anything with an Australian/English/Scottish/Irish accent will turn them on. I can also proudly say that they absolutely loathed AJ. And my other friend, he thought Nikki Bella was really hot.
As for the superstars it turned into one of those 'he's mine' games. So naturally all three of them tried to claim Cena, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns. I kept trying to sell Dolph Ziggler, but they couldn't get past the ramen hair. Wade Barret was popular with one of the girls and my other friend loved Sheamus, but our other friends couldn't get past how albino he was.
They became fans after that, or at least as much of a fan as I am (you know only there for the aesthetics). But I realized it's so much more fun watching it with people. Especially when they have reactions to the matches and segments.

I think it was just nice for them to see representation. That reminds me. I have another friend who I tried to subtly get into wrestling through Total Divas, and he actually ended up marathoning the first season on his own time, but he loved the Funkadactyls. It helped that his first introduction to them was me texting him to turn it to E! when they were doing an interview, and Cameron said she was in support of gay marriage. He thought they were both beautiful and he loved both of their personalities. He never ended up watching wrestling, but when NeNe appeared and they had that segment together I showed it to him because he loves Atlanta Housewives. He got secondhand embarrassment from it, but he still thought Cameron was funny and he said his girls looked great. My other selling point was Darren Young, because his type is literally pro-athletes and he expressed interest when Darren came out. He thought he was smokin' hot, but it didn't help that Darren's out with injury. He started following him on Instagram, though. And like me he was put off when he saw Darren's bf.

That was the night HHH made his big return and that was the segment immediately before he came out. Yes, I specifically remember this. It sounds kinda gay now but at the time I was probably thinking, “ugh, I wish these hot girls would stop getting each other wet already, I want to see HHH.”
