GOPer Who Performed Exorcism On Obama: There's A Jesus 'Backlash' Gordon Klingenschmitt, an anti-gay Republican just elected to the Colorado state house, doesn't understand why his election caused such a stir and it all must be because of a "backlash" against Jesus.
"Why would people hate a chaplain?" he asked on "Bible News Radio" on Monday, according to a Right Wing Watch recording. "I'm just a guy who believes the Bible. I love Jesus. I love people. I'm a man of faith and compassion."
Klingenschmitt runs the Pray in Jesus Name Project, which was designated an anti-LGBT group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and has called gay people "unhuman." He also once tried to perform an exorcism on President Obama, trying to get rid of the "demon of tyranny who is using the White House occupant."
But on Monday, Klingenschmitt insisted he is incredibly tolerant and that his religious group is accepting.
"We care about people of all diverse backgrounds, political beliefs, religious beliefs," he said.
He added that he's is incredibly lucky that he ran in a conservative district.
"There is a backlash against the name of Jesus. People do not want God to rule their hearts and a lot of people are offended when a chaplain or a man of faith gets elected to political office," he said. "But thank God, the voters in my district were very conservative and very open to religious freedom."

The two guys in the background look mortified being behind him.

I'm just going to offer myself up as a mail order bride for a cute Chinese guy. If you're currently reading this, I'm going to need you to hire five kids to be on hand to make me whatever shoes I want.

There are so many depressing stories every time you switch on the news right now, even more than usual.

Michelle Obama Gives Zero F*cks About What the Saudis Wanted Her To Wear
On Tuesday, President Obama and the First Lady attended the funeral of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah, a renowned misogynistic tyrant who oversaw some of the harshest and most oppressive conditions endured by women anywhere in the world. These conditions included and still include bans on voting and driving. When going out in public, women must be accompanied by a male relative and are expected to cover their heads and faces because modesty or whatever. Abdullah also kept three of his daughters locked up for more than a decade for speaking out for women’s rights. (They remain so.) According to some very upset people in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, Michelle Obama was supposed to cover her head while visiting the country. She did not. To vent their outrage, they took to Saudi Twitter and used hashtags that translate to #Michelle_Obama_Immodest and #Michelle_Obama_Not_Veiled. (Apparently, Saudi Twitter is just as capable of fruitless outrage as U.S. Twitter is.) Well, Michelle Obama gave zero, and let’s count ‘em — zero, zero, zero — fucks about what the Saudis wanted her to wear on her head. Not only that, instead of wearing black at the funeral, she wore a blue blouse and a festive-looking blue-sweater jacket of sorts that could double as a spring getup for a leisurely stroll through the National Arboretum before a boozy brunch. So while her husband is obliged to say nice things about Abdullah and be respectful because of geopolitics, Michelle is under no such obligation. Hence, the giving of zero fucks. According to one report, Saudi state television blurred out Michelle as a camera showed the First Couple approaching Saudi Arabia’s new sexist-ass king, Salman, who acted as if she wasn’t there. And according to this video, she wasn’t. But the information director at the Saudi embassy in Washington, as well as CNN’s Nic Robertson in Riyadh, both said Michelle wasn’t blurred at the time they were watching. Regardless, the Wahhabist crackpots in Saudi Arabia should just be thankful the First Lady didn’t drive them to the gunshow.
