It's weird that they're playing it up as her being drafted rather than the injury. At this point to preserve the rest of the roster they should have just put the title on hold and built her opponent while she's out then have her drop the title to them. Vacating is silly and not using her undefeated streak to boost someone else on the way up is dumb.

I think it's kinda smart. If we look at NXT as developmental then it'd be a bit of a waste to have Asuka defeated down there because it means she'll have less of an impact on the main roster. Now it'll be the debut of the undefeated Asuka, rather than the debut of the girl who lost to someone in NXT but is probably gonna be undefeated anyways. The undefeated streak worked in NXT because Asuka only wrestled at TakeOver, and even then, it had run it's course, much like Bayley's character in NXT. What's she gonna do on Raw? Squash Emma, Mickie and Dana? Sasha already does that, so who cares? At best she could run through Sasha, Alexa and Nia, but we're talking about four/five months of material, max, And then what? Someone's gonna break it eventually, and there's no reason it shouldn't have been Ember, who was being pegged as that person since her debut, and who Asuka had to cheat to retain against last time because she was so fuckin shook. Story wise, it made the most sense. But I guess there's no use crying over spilled milk. Now Ember, Liv and The Iconic Duo can finally shine, and Asuka can go flop on Raw, because she for damn sure better keep that undefeated shit away from SmackDown, because they've built up too many women for her to come over and ruin it all for a streak only Triple H cares about.

It's just annoying that they couldn't even wait for the Mae Young Classic winner to defeat her. Like, obviously Ember was the prime candidate, but she should have been defeated by somebody. Anybody. Fucking Liv could have been the person to end the streak and I would have been happy. As B said, it serves no purpose to continue the streak on the main roster, because it has a very limited shelf life.
If we've learned anything from the main roster's handling of a streak, based on Charlotte's PPV streak, they'll end it before WrestleMania anyway, so we shouldn't have to suffer too long.
... Now watch them prove me wrong and have her win the Raw Women's Championship on her first night and have her go on to beat Sammartino's reign as WWE Champion.

It depends on how they use her on the main roster. There's nothing to say she has to wrestle every week.
I just don't think ending her streak on NXT would have been smart. It's developmental, and it's been damaging in the past to drain out the girls before they've arrived on the main roster. Meanwhile, women like Alexa and Becky, who weren't overexposed on NXT, still have the fans behind them. This has left Asuka and the women who failed the triumph over her midway through that arch, with ways still to go.
I just don't get the value of having someone end it on NXT. You talk about her burying everyone else, but the end result would have just been woman who beat Asuka >>>>>>>> everyone else. Instead we're left with a somewhat even albeit undeveloped roster on NXT, a sense that the main roster is actually a step ahead of developmental (Asuka has torn through the competition, and therefore is ready to rise up), and the possibility of someone ending Asuka on a much bigger stage, resulting in a bigger payoff.
To me, the idea of Ember working her way through NXT, proving her worth and then eventually rising to the main roster to finally get her own back on Asuka is much more compelling than her winning the title at Takeover. And meanwhile, Sasha or Charlotte vs the undefeated Empress Asuka is more exciting than Charlotte vs an Asuka who has already lost.
The NXT roster isn't suffering because Asuka was far ahead of everyone else, it's suffering because they're not giving the women time or characters. Ultimately they'll be fine if they work out a balance between making their talent consistent and interesting but at the same time not exhausting them before the main roster.

To me her even having a streak in NXT is exactly what you're saying though. There's already nothing left for her to do on the main roster but continue the same streak we've already endured for over a year. If anything they should have saved her going on a streak when she came up to the main roster. But either way it's Asuka so I probably would have still been bored. I've just never been a fan of entire divisions being buried by one person, be it Michelle McCool, AJ, Neville or Asuka.
Like you said, it's developmental, so there is no reason for her to already have the second longest women's championship reign.

I just think it depends on how they do it. With Michelle I didn't get it because there was just no reaction so it made the whole division seem lifeless by consequence. With AJ I didn't think it was really the case, because literally every Total Diva held victories over her in non title matches and then she'd cheat to beat them when it counted. The reason that period was boring to me was because there was no substance beyond 'AJ is jealous of Total Diva number __'.
Whereas for me Asuka is actually compelling and probably the most naturally charismatic woman they have, and is also insanely good in the ring. I don't think the division has been buried because of her, I think they unfortunately just didn't make an effort with anyone else. If Ember and Peyton or whoever were to go and have an outstanding Takeover match following a decent build up next month I think they'd very much get over despite both having lost.
It's all in how they book it. If they have Asuka tear through the roster with no further storyline advancement or second feud then yes it will get boring, and that's very possible, particularly on Raw.
If they do it like they did at the beginning of her NXT run with Emma, Dana etc while still advancing the other women then I'm so up for it. They just need to maintain creativity which is what stopped happening on NXT when she became champion.
An undefeated demi-god in the division can work, they just need to show they're actually for women and book a number of different story lines to keep the women interesting and credible, a la the men. It worked with Brock Lesnar. But maybe that's a pipedream.

Ugh.
I'm so not here for her. I was hoping something would happen to prevent her from signing, but it was just wishful thinking.

I'm watching the Asuka collection WWE recently added to the Network. Cameron did so much better than I remember. At the time I really thought it had been a complete squash. Emma vs. Asuka was probably my favorite. Those last couple of sequences were so exciting, and Emma and Dana were great together. I can't believe they both flopped so hard on the main roster. Tbh, send them back down. It worked for Emma last time.
