When you listen to music (and I mean LISTENING; background music doesn't count), do you often picture yourself singing the song in a certain scenario? Like, on a stage or in a private room with someone or in a street or anywhere like that?
It's just, I've been doing this since I first started listening to music 'properly' (i.e. listening to Disney soundtracks when I was about five), and I imagine I'm not alone, but I do wonder just how universal it is.
Sometimes I imagine people singing the songs TO me, but usually I'm the one belting it out.

No, but in certain moments I think of how perfect a song would be to just start singing. I wish my life were a musical. I want it to be a normal sort of thing. Not one where people will be watching me, because that is just unappealing.

Haha, a real life musical would be great, and I suppose you can always just release your inhibitions and burst into song, but the big drawback is no backing music. Sometimes I do pull an Ally McBeal and softly sing a song when I'm walking and keep in rhythm, but then someone notices and I stop. On a sort-of-related note, I do the whole weird Melina side-step thing that she does in the ring sometimes when I'm doing stuff, but obviously that only lasts a few seconds.

When I was little, I used to sing Ironic in the car just like Alanis Morisette in the video.

When I was going through my Zefron phase, I'd listen to his duets with the Hudge and pretend he was singing to me, not her. So embarassing. But now for the most part, I often find myself daydreaming that I'm on a stage performing it and doing some cheesy dance number (thanks to Glee). Other times, when I'm feeling creative, I often piece together short stories, based on the mood I get from listening to whatever is playing.

I hum song choruses to myself in the shower and when I'm driving, if that counts.

Astro is the the only one then. Maybe it isn't so common afterall.
I'll generally come up with a little scenario in my head when I'm listening, and it'll usually explain why I'm (or we're) singing that song...it's not something I overthink or anything, it just happens. Then I'll play the song back a few times. Like, I remember a while back I came up with one where someone I know was forced into singing at our school talent show after losing a bet, so I offered to duet with him and help cover his weaknesses.
Don't ask me how I came up with it...I just usually need to do it when I'm listening to most songs, and that's what hit me.
