The final round of the WWE Championship Tournament kicks off Raw tonight at 9/8 CT as Rey Mysterio and The Miz clash to determine the undisputed holder of WWE's golden prize. Who will be crowned the new WWE Champion? CM Punk should return the night after the Royal Rumble, when the Rumble winner is trying to decide which champion to face at WrestleMania. Punk could come out and say "Why don't you face the REAL Champion?" leading to a Triple Threat.

The momentum Punk has now wont last forever though just by showing up at random non-WWE events. I don't think he needs to have an actual match on the card but I think he should show up by SummerSlam even if it's just the kinda deal where he tries to interfere in the title match and is dragged out by security.

His momentum would die alot quicker if he were on TV everyweek than if he were off TV and everyone was anticipating his possible return. People can only stay shocked for so long, and that's pretty much all that's getting him over atm.

The fact that the title match is opening RAW and not main eventing is pretty much a giveaway that there’s going to be some kind of swerve ending to it.

Rey Mysterio for champ, he hasn't held it yet and I'm hoping for Cena vs. Mysterio at SummerSlam.
Del Rio sucks now and The Miz is on too much of a slump (jobbing to Riley every other week) to have the belt at the minute.

Also, SummerSlam is coming up. I think a lot of people where expecting Rock to make an appearance there but it looks like he wont be around till Survivor Series now. So they need something big for SummerSlam since it’s supposed to be one of the biggest shows of the year. If Punk isn’t there, what’s the main event? Rey vs. Cena would be pretty much the only big match they could do. The roster's real thin right now.

I still like how Michael Cole cheerleads for Miz.
Maryse was in her ring-gear in that backstage shot of the roster. Hopefully she has a match tonight and it wasn't just for a Superstars taping before the show.
