The Genius Behind Jennifer's Body (Diablo Cody) Defends Megan Fox



Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody sat down with fans in San Francisco for a Q and A this past weekend to discuss the season finale of United States of Tara, her just-finished screenplay for Sweet Valley High, and her film Jennifer's Body. The plan was to watch the "much misunderstood" Jennifer's Body in a "neo-sincere" environment and then discuss. (In case you're wondering, a neo-sincere person is post ironic; someone who knows she can make fun of something, but doesn't need to.) The Juno writer, who is very pregnant herself, had much to say about women and feminism in Hollywood. I happened to attend, so here's some insight I picked up.

On how United States of Tara represents a theme found in all her work: "I feel like everything I've done has dealt with exactly the same thing – about being a female, but not being able to decide what type of female you want to be. I feel like I'm in conflict, personally."

On Sweet Valley High: "It's another f*cking movie about the Madonna and the Whore running around wreaking havoc."

On Megan Fox: "People really hate Megan. She's a really nice girl. She's just outspoken."

On a Hollywood double standard: "Women aren't allowed to be anti-heroes or flawed. Megan got lambasted for talking about Michael Bay. Shia LaBeouf criticized another director, and he got called 'refreshing' and 'honest,' while Megan is a bimbo who should never work again. Women aren't allowed to be as complicated as men."

On being a feminist filmmaker: "If anything we're less post-gender than 10 years ago. The Kathryn Bigelow thing was awesome, but it's difficult to be a feminist filmmaker. No one wants you pressing your feminist agenda on nice clean celluloid. It doesn't sell."

On how she depicts youth: "People say 'teenage girls aren't so clever. Your characters should be less articulate to reflect our youth.' People who say that aren't spending time with teenagers."

Megan at Jonah Hex Premiere

Megan Fox says it will be years before she and BAG tie the knot.

It was revealed earlier this week that 36-year-old actor Brian Austin Green proposed to his longtime on-again, off-again girlfriend, Megan Fox, on June 1 while the couple was vacationing in Hawaii. Although the celebrity couple is officially engaged once again, Fox tells Us Weekly that she is certainly in no rush to walk down the aisle.

Fox, a 24-year-old actress and Emporio Armani model whose latest project, Jonah Hex, has been released in theaters nationwide as of Friday, June 18, told the publication, "It's going to be years! I'm going to be 44 when I get married." She appeared at the Hollywood premiere for Jonah Hex on Thursday night wearing a sizable black ring on her right hand.

A source who witnessed Green's proposal on a Hawaiian beach revealed that Fox inadvertently lost the 2-carat engagement ring while she was celebrating. The couple began dating in 2004, according to MTV.com, but they broke off their first engagement in February 2009 as a result of differences within their relationship.

At the Jonah Hex premiere, Fox addressed her relationship by telling reporters, "We are just even more committed to each other and we always have been. I am more in love with him now than I was in the beginning."

Megan Fox says new engagement reports are false... and late!



Megan Fox thanks everyone for their well wishes on her engagement to Brian Austin Green, but she says you're about four years late.

"We've been engaged for four years, so I don't know why the story is breaking now like it's new," she told E! News last night at the premiere of Jonah Hex. "But I'm happy to still be engaged and still be with him."

Megan's ringfinger was bare, but not because she lost her engagement ring in Hawaii, as Us Weekly reported...

"I don't know where it came from, but someone made a lot of money for lying about a lot of things," she said.

But who knows if we can believe anything that comes out of Megan's pretty little mouth? After all, she's the one who said she regularly lies to the press.

And interestingly enough, my Awful Truth cohort Ted Casablanca hears that the whole reengagement announcement could be very deliberately timed.

Either way, the hottie claims she has no plans to walk down the aisle anytime soon. "There's no plan yet," she said of their wedding plans, "The stars will align and it will happen one day."

Her fiancé wasn't by her side at her premiere, because she told him to go cheer on the Lakers instead.

"Brian's at the Laker game, where he should be," she told E! "I made him go. He wanted to come [to the premiere] and I said 'You can't miss this. It's historical.'"

With an attitude like that, it sounds like these two will have a very happy future.

Megan Fox is known for her provocative interview comments. Now, she's turning up the heat in the nerd community by showing a true knowledge of 'The Lord of the Rings.'

The 'Jonah Hex' hottie, an avowed comic book fan, gave an off-the-cuff explanation of how you can never please hardcore comic book and Tolkien purists. More importantly, it showed she speaks nerd fluently.

"I'm a 'Lord of the Rings' fan. And I'll go on the forums," Fox said at the 'Jonah Hex' press day. "And they'll complain that Frodo is eating the Lembas bread outside of Mordor instead of the in the Mines of Moria. And they get really mad."

"You cannot focus completely on pleasing them because you'll never win," Fox continued. "They'll never be happy no matter what you do."

"Peter Jackson and company won like 30 something Oscars for those movies," she added, defending movie license. Well, to be exact, the trilogy won 17 Oscars. But you had us at Lembas, Megan.

Nerd cred has never been hotter. It doesn't matter that she seems to be engaged. Nerds can still dream.

No movie nerds fainted during the explanation, but there were some impressed looks all around. Even co-star Josh Brolin was stunned into a rare silence before he finally uttered the one word that summed the scene up: "Cool."

Megan Fox has admitted that she is "furious" that topless images of her surfaced on the internet earlier this year.

The actress, who was photographed shooting scenes for the film Passion Play, has insisted that she is not seeking attention and is angered that the paparazzi would pursue her while working on a closed film set.

Speaking to Allure, the 24-year-old said: "If I knew who took this picture, I would personally cause them harm. Physical harm."

"I'm not a f**king reality TV star that's courting the paparazzi and wants my f**king picture taken all the time.

"I'm at my job and I'm trying to play a character and I'm trying to be serious, and this is the s**t that's happening to me. It makes me furious!"

Megan Fox Claims She Was Her Grandmother's Favorite Grandchild

Transformers actress Megan Fox says that she was her grandma’s favorite grandchild.

The 24-year-old actress – who was recently dropped from the third Transformers film- said that her mother’s mom preferred her to the rest of her family, even though she couldn’t always join in with her games.

She said: “My mother’s mother always favored me for some reason-out of all her grandchildren. When I was really young, maybe two or three, I used to always ask her to get down on the floor and play My Little Pony or whatever I was into at the time, and as an excuse she would tell me that she had a bone in her knee.“It took me another three years to figure out that we all have bones in our knees. So I eventually called her out on it, and I remember her being genuinely amused with me.”

Fox, who grew up in Tennessee, recently admitted she loves home life with partner Brian Austin Green and relies on their time together to keep her “sane” away from the pressures of fame.

She said: “Oddly you wouldn’t think it, but I’m very domestic. That keeps me sane.

“I sort of distance myself from the Hollywood crowd. I don’t go out and socialize that way.”
