I don't want to be that guy, but if the dude hadn't missed the original penalty they would have been in the semi's and the shootout would have been avoided. I guess he just couldn't handle the pressure.

That might not be a bad idea.
A few years ago a Colombian player scored an own goal that eliminated his country from the tournament then was shot dead upon his return home by a crazed fan. Some people take their football seriously.

Yeah, and "Three of his accomplices were not charged". Hmm...
A lot of South American countries have a high percentage of obsessed fans, some of the brawls that erupt when they play against each other is crazy, but this incident was obviously on a whole other level.

This World Cup has sucked. I've been looking forward to it for 4 years and then it arrives and I've barely been able to see any of it and the little that I have has mostly been boring. And this is coming from a huge football fan, I can't imagine how much of a disappointment it must be for non fans just tuning because of all the hype.

Wayne Rooney: World's Ugliest Football PlayerWayne Rooney was voted world's ugliest football/soccer player. Coincidentally enough, these results hail from our sorority sister site, BeautifulPeople.com. After a hugely disappointing World Cup, England striker Wayne Rooney is unlikely to be cheered by his latest accolade: ugliest footballer on the planet. The Manchester United goal machine, who flopped after being hyped as a potential superstar in South Africa, heads the list of unattractive players on dating website BeautifulPeople.com. Most beautiful, according to online voters subscribing to the site, are Italy's Fabio Cannavaro, Fernando Torres and David Villa of Spain, US mainstay Landon Donavan and France's Thierry Henry. Rooney has the company of England team mate John Terry in the top 10 ugliest, but it's the Algerian team that comes out as collectively the least attractive on the planet, according to the poll. BeautifulPeople.com claimed that 200,000 people had already voted and that the polling was ongoing. ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/100707/oddities/us_people_media_offbeat_fasihon_fbl_wc2010_ger_itaIf you all remember, Lacey Von Erich and Velvet Sky called Rooney out on his fugness last month: beautifulpersons.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=sports&thread=6&page=3#427

Rooney is clearly Shrek's younger brother.
Spain-Holland final on Sunday. I like them both, but I'll be pulling for Holland probably.

I think Tevez is actually more deserving of that. Also, Donovan being higher than Kaka is ridiculous.
